Spatio-temporal patterns of high summer ozone events in the Madrid Basin, Central Spain

Atmospheric Environment, 2018
Abstract Complex spatial and temporal patterns of ground-level O3 and NO2 concentrations have been revealed across an important southern European O3 exceedance area (Madrid Basin, central Spain). Data were obtained from 102 diffusion tube sites and 49 monitoring stations (25 urban/suburban, 12 urban/suburban-traffic, 7 remote, 3 rural, 2 urban ...

Morphology and origin of dolomite in paleosols and lacustrine sequences. Examples from the Miocene of the Madrid Basin

Sedimentary Geology, 2014
The northern Madrid Basin contains paleosols and lacustrine sequences composed of ordered dolomite. Smectite-rich mudstones with analcime deposited in distal alluvial fans affected by pedogenic processes. Mudstones contain dolomite and silica laminae interpreted as mineralized root-mats.

Quaternary intraplate surface uplift and opening of the Cenozoic Madrid Basin (Central Iberia)

The Central Range, the Iberian Chain and the Toledo Mountains in central Iberia were built during the Paleogene and Neogene alpine deformation, in response to shortening and thickening of the crust. The Cenozoic Madrid Basin in central Iberia was filled under endorheic conditions, fed by clastic sediments supplied from these mountains.
