Mathematical modelling of MAG welding

Welding International, 2001
In the present work, a three-dimensional numerical model for MAG (Metal Active Gas) welding of thin plate is developed. In MAG welding, metal is deposited into the molten pool from the electrode wire, and the metal plays an important role in determining weld bead profiles. In the model, the thermal energy enters the plates through two mechanisms, i.e.,

Fatigue resistance of MAG welded steel elements

International Journal of Fatigue, 1999
Abstract The present paper describes the results of a research programme carried out to assess the fatigue properties of MAG (Metal Active Gas) welded elements, built in Fe510 D1 steel. Tests on both small and large specimens were carried out to evaluate the effects, on fatigue resistance, of the residual stresses produced by the welding process. The

Towards a more robust automated MAG welding

2015 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (CASE), 2015
Ultra-high-strength steels like 22MnB5, increasingly used in crash relevant body-in-white components, are very sensitive against too much heat input in industrial robot welding. Hence, in this work, the highly resolved visualisation of the dynamical transient temperature fields on the joint is investigated in order to obtain the real cooling rates of ...

The Effect of Welding Speed on the Weld Seam Profile in MAG and TIG/MAG Hybrid Arc Welding

Practical Metallography, 2017
Abstract The effect of welding speed on the weld seam profile in MAG and TIG/MAG hybrid arc welding was investigated in a low carbon steel. AISI 1020 steel materials having 5 mm thickness were used in the experiments. A fixed MAG and TIG welding currents (90 A and 100 A, respectively) and three different welding speeds (0.14, 0.21 and

Dynamic Process of MAG Welding Robot

2010 International Conference on Measuring Technology and Mechatronics Automation, 2010
Based on detailed analysis of the dynamic relations between variables which affect the stability of MAG welding robot system each other, the dynamic model of the system is established. Sequentially, based on this model, stability simulation, disturbance resistance simulation, dynamic regulation and analysis of system amelioration are put up.
