A Simulation Model of MAG Welding.
In the present work, a three-dimensional (3-D), non-stationary thermal model for MAG (Metal Active Gas) welding is developed. The transient temperature distribution on the base metal is numerically analyzed in order to estimate the molten pool size by using a finite difference model based on the heat flow equation, and the theoretical configuration of ...

Cold Wire Addition in MAG Welding [PDF]
This work aims to present a variation of the conventional MAG (Metal Active Gas) welding process, with the addition of a cold wire fed by a slave torch in the molten pool promoted by the electric arc originated form the main wire. Comparisons were made between traditional MAG processes with only one energized wire and the MAG-CW (MAG with addition of a

Blowholes on Pulsed MAG welding.
Blowholes and their formation of Pulsed MAG welding was investigated. Among welding parameters such as arc length, average current, wire extension, welding speed and shielding gases, arc length was the most important factor. The average size of blowholes was as small as 0.62 mm.

Application of switch back welding to V groove MAG welding
The formation of stable back beads in a root pass weld during one side multi-layer welding is important to achieve high quality welded metal joints in MAG welding. The authors employed the switch back welding method for V groove joints without backing plates.

Joule heating of solid wires in MAG welding
Abstract There are numerous studies1–12 concerning the melting rate of welding wire and various investigations have been carried out on welding current, welding current waveform, wire extension, polarity, chemical composition, wire diameter, arc length, shielding gas composition and melting rate. Joule heating of bulk wire has been a large contributory
