Enhancing CBCT-based CT synthesis using planning MRI in adaptive proton therapy for head cancer: A deep learning approach. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Appl Clin Med Phys
Abstract Background Proton therapy (PT) is recognized as a superior treatment for head cancer (HC) due to its precision and minimal damage to surrounding healthy tissues, relying on computed tomography (CT) data for dose calculations. Adaptive proton therapy (APT) is crucial to address changes in patient anatomy during treatment and update dose ...

Comparative Study of Iminodibenzyl and Diphenylamine Derivatives as Hole Transport Materials in Inverted Perovskite Solar Cells. [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry
This study introduces novel fluorene‐based hole transport materials (HTMs) for perovskite solar cells (PSCs), integrating iminodibenzyl and diphenylamine moieties. These materials exhibit remarkable photostability, optical, and thermal properties. Among them, TDF‐2 achieved a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 19.38 %.

Location and Concentration of Aromatic-Rich Segments Dictates the Percolating Inter-Molecular Network and Viscoelastic Properties of Ageing Condensates. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh), 2023
Biomolecular condensates importantly contribute to the spatiotemporal organization of the cell. However, condensates can age over time transitioning into gel‐like pathological aggregates. Here, by combining atomistic and coarse‐grained simulations, the authors investigate how the concentration and location of low‐complexity aromatic‐rich kinked ...

Formation of hollow silver nanoparticles under irradiation with ultrashort laser pulses. [PDF]

open access: yesNanophotonics
Abstract We have studied the formation of cavities in spherical silver nanoparticles embedded in silica, irradiated with fs laser pulses that produce an intense electronic excitation. Experimentally determined aspect ratio, i.e. the ratio between the cavity and nanoparticle size, for hollow structures formed under different irradiation conditions shows

An Adversarial Risk Analysis Framework for Cybersecurity

open access: yesRisk Analysis, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 16-36, January 2021., 2021
Abstract Risk analysis is an essential methodology for cybersecurity as it allows organizations to deal with cyber threats potentially affecting them, prioritize the defense of their assets, and decide what security controls should be implemented. Many risk analysis methods are present in cybersecurity models, compliance frameworks, and international ...

Massively Parallel Solution of the BiGlobal Eigenvalue Problem Using Dense Linear Algebra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Linear instability of complex flows may be analyzed by numerical solutions of partial-derivative-based eigenvalue problems; the concepts are, respectively, referred to as BiGlobal or TriGlobal instability, depending on whether two or three spatial ...

Error Threshold for Color Codes and Random 3-Body Ising Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We study the error threshold of color codes, a class of topological quantum codes that allow a direct implementation of quantum Clifford gates suitable for entanglement distillation, teleportation and fault-tolerant quantum computation.

Comparative Study of Metaheuristics for the Curve‐Fitting Problem: Modeling Neurotransmitter Diffusion and Synaptic Receptor Activation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Synapses are key elements in the information transmission in the nervous system. Among the different approaches to study them, the use of computational simulations is identified as the most promising technique. Simulations, however, do not provide generalized models of the underlying biochemical phenomena, but a set of observations, or time‐series ...
