Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Electric Field‐Dependent Conductivity as Probe for Charge Carrier Delocalization and Morphology in Organic Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Applying a high electric field to a doped organic semiconductor heats up the charge carrier distribution beyond the lattice temperature, enhancing conductivity. It is shown that the associated effective temperature can be used to extract the effective localization length, which is a characteristic length scale of charge transport and provides ...

Fluorescent Polymeric Nanofibers as Ratiometric Multiplexed Skin Sensors of pH and Oxygen

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fluorescent polymeric nanofibers and nanorods are produced as ratiometric sensors of two important physiological parameters: pH and oxygen. They operate by dual Forster resonance energy transfer from large number of energy donor dyes to limited number of two distinct energy acceptors, enabling simultaneous sensing of pH and oxygen.

Metronidazole‐Loaded Cyclodextrin Nanogels for Antibacterial Therapy and Microbiota Regulation in Periodontitis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A methacrylamide β‐cyclodextrin‐based nanogel (MACD nGel) is developed to load the antimicrobial drug Metronidazole (MNZ) for topical delivery for the treatment of periodontitis. It is demonstrated that cyclodextrin nanogel (nGel) loaded with metronidazole provides an efficient drug delivery route but also has potential clinical applications and offers

Evaluating Cytocompatibility of Corynebacterium glutamicum‐poly Vinyl Alcohol Living Biomaterials for Ocular Use

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In ophthalmology, living biomaterials such as living contact lenses appear promising for sustained drug delivery or biosensing. The cytocompatibility of Cg‐PVA hydrogels, developed as a model living contact lens, is investigated with the ocular surface, showing their potential translation to the clinic.

A comprehensive comparison of the corrosion performance, fatigue behavior and mechanical properties of micro-alloyed MgZnCa and MgZnGe alloys

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
The fast and non-uniform corrosion of Mg alloys largely limits their practical applications in various fields. In present study, micro-alloyed extruded Mg0.5Zn0.2Ca and Mg0.5Zn0.2Ge alloys were developed to avoid the severe galvanic corrosion between Mg ...

Magic Sets

open access: yesReal Analysis Exchange, 2018
In this paper we study magic sets for certain families \(\mathcal{H}\subseteq {^\mathbb{R}\mathbb{R}}\) which are subsets \(M\subseteq\mathbb{R}\) such that for all functions \(f,g\in\mathcal{H}\) we have that \(g[M]\subseteq f[M]\Rightarrow f=g\). Specifically we are interested in magic sets for the family \(\mathcal{G}\) of all continuous functions ...

Redefining Therapies for Drug‐Resistant Tuberculosis: Synergistic Effects of Antimicrobial Peptides, Nanotechnology, and Computational Design

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial peptide (AMP)‐loaded nanocarriers provide a multifunctional strategy to combat drug‐resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. By enhancing intracellular delivery, bypassing efflux pumps, and disrupting bacterial membranes, this platform restores phagolysosome fusion and macrophage function.
