Geohazard features of the western Sardinia
The Maps of Geohazard features of the Western Sardinia produced by the Magic project (MArine Geohazard along Italian Coasts) were presented. The maps were created using morphobathymetric data obtained by surveying with a multi-beam echo sounder. The main

Anisotropy of spin–orbit induced electron spin relaxation in [001] and [111] grown GaAs quantum dots [PDF]
We report a systematic study of the spin relaxation anisotropy between single electron Zeeman sublevels in three-dimensional cuboidal GaAs quantum dots (QDs). The QDs are subject to an in-plane magnetic field.

Applying a high electric field to a doped organic semiconductor heats up the charge carrier distribution beyond the lattice temperature, enhancing conductivity. It is shown that the associated effective temperature can be used to extract the effective localization length, which is a characteristic length scale of charge transport and provides ...

A methacrylamide β‐cyclodextrin‐based nanogel (MACD nGel) is developed to load the antimicrobial drug Metronidazole (MNZ) for topical delivery for the treatment of periodontitis. It is demonstrated that cyclodextrin nanogel (nGel) loaded with metronidazole provides an efficient drug delivery route but also has potential clinical applications and offers

Grid services for the MAGIC experiment
Exploring signals from the outer space has become an observational science under fast expansion. On the basis of its advanced technology the MAGIC telescope is the natural building block for the first large scale ground based high energy gamma-ray ...

In ophthalmology, living biomaterials such as living contact lenses appear promising for sustained drug delivery or biosensing. The cytocompatibility of Cg‐PVA hydrogels, developed as a model living contact lens, is investigated with the ocular surface, showing their potential translation to the clinic.

THE MAGELLANIC INTER-CLOUD PROJECT (MAGIC). I. EVIDENCE FOR INTERMEDIATE-AGE STELLAR POPULATIONS IN BETWEEN THE MAGELLANIC CLOUDS [PDF]
The origin of the gas in between the Magellanic Clouds (MCs)—known as the “Magellanic Bridge” (MB)—is puzzling. Numerical simulations suggest that the MB formed from tidally stripped gas and stars in a recent interaction between the MCs.

New Generation Atmospheric Cherenkov Detectors [PDF]
High energy gamma-ray astronomy has been established during the last decade through the launch of the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory (CGRO) and the success of its ground-based counterpart, the imaging atmospheric Cherenkov technique.
