Review of maglev train technologies

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2006
This paper reviews and summarizes Maglev train technologies from an electrical engineering point of view and assimilates the results of works over the past three decades carried out all over the world. Many researches and developments concerning the Maglev train have been accomplished; however, they are not always easy to understand.

Maglev Train Overview

2015
Maglev (means magnetic + levitation) is a method of propulsion that uses magnetic levitation to propel vehicles with magnets rather than with wheels, axles, and bearings. With the Maglev, a vehicle is levitated a short distance away from a guideway by using magnets to create both lift and thrust.

Japan's superconducting Maglev train

IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine, 2002
We have developed a Maglev train under the guidance of the Japanese Ministry of Transport. The Maglev train is an advanced train that can run more than 500 km/h with a linear synchronous motor (LSM) that has both a superconducting magnet on board and an armature coil in the ground. The Maglev train was tested on the Yamanashi Maglev test line.

Mechanical Assessment of Maglev Vehicle: A Proposal for Implementing Maglev Trains in Iran

ASME 2010 10th Biennial Conference on Engineering Systems Design and Analysis, Volume 2, 2010
Rapid development of transportation industries worldwide, including railways and the never ending demand to shorten travel time during trade, leisure, etc. have caused planning and implementation of high-speed railways in many countries. Variety of such systems including magnetic levitation (maglev) has been introduced to the industry.
