A Data‐Driven Review of Geoscience Research Evolution Using SciBERT‐Based Topic and Network Analysis
This review synthesises the evolution of global geoscience research from 2004 to 2023 using large‐scale bibliometric evidence. By combining keyword co‐occurrence network analysis with SciBERT‐based topic modelling, it identifies major paradigm transitions from geology‐centred research to climate‐focused studies and recent data‐ and AI‐driven ...

Abstract The mechanisms underlying the patchy distribution of forearc megathrust earthquakes and arc volcanoes in subduction zones remain poorly understood. Here we present a high‐resolution seismic tomographic model of the Central American subduction zone, derived from a joint inversion of local body‐wave and teleseismic Rayleigh‐wave data.

Ascent of volatile-rich felsic magma in dykes:a numerical model applied to deep-sourced porphyry intrusions [PDF]
Dyke propagation is a mechanism for more rapid ascent of felsic magmas through the crust than is possible via diapirs or percolative flow. As it ascends, the magma undergoes complex physical and chemical transformations induced by decompression and ...

Abstract The role of inherited lithospheric structures in active rift seismicity and magma intrusion remains a key uncertainty in continental breakup dynamics. We investigate the January 2025 Northern Main Ethiopian Rift swarm using constrained 3‐D gravity inversion and D‐InSAR observations to characterize crustal architecture, seismicity, and active ...

The effects of Venus' thermal structure on buoyant magma ascent [PDF]
The recent Magellan images have revealed a broad spatial distribution of surface volcanism on Venus. Previous work in modeling the ascent of magma on both Venus and Earth has indicated that the planetary thermal structure significantly influences the ...

The theoretical basis for textural indices of eruption dynamics: review and new conceptual models
The textural indices of eruption products (pumice, scoria and lavas), number density of crystals or bubbles, or characteristics of their size distributions, have been proposed to estimate dynamic properties such as magma ascent rates, on the basis of ...

Abstract SO2 flux and gas composition were measured during the 2021 flank eruption of Pacaya Volcano (Guatemala). The SO2 flux, measured with Tropomi, gradually rose from ∼2 to ∼30 kg/s over a 5 month period before the eruption. Field UV camera data showed that >95% of the SO2 was emitted from the summit crater.

Fault‐Controlled Plumbing System Beneath Lipari Volcanic Island Revealed by Seismic Matrix Imaging
Abstract Lipari Island hosts an active magmatic–hydrothermal system, but its deep plumbing architecture remains poorly resolved due to strong seismic scattering. We apply passive seismic matrix imaging to public vertical‐component cross‐correlation functions from the dense 2018 Lipari nodal array, recovering relative‐reflectivity structures to ∼10 km ...
