Investigating the influence of climate and volcanic surface aging on fluvial erosion: A case study of Réunion Island, Indian Ocean

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 4, April 2026.
Réunion Island is marked by gradients in both precipitation and surface age. Analyzing correlations between metrics related to precipitation, age, and drainage basin morphology, we demonstrate how volcanic surface age impacts the effects of average precipitation and precipitation variability on fluvial erosion.

Functions of J‐domain proteins in mitochondrial protein biogenesis

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Mitochondrial biogenesis and functions depend on the import and assembly of more than 1000 proteins that are made as precursors on cytosolic ribosomes. The majority of these precursor proteins are transported from the ribosome to the translocase of the outer membrane (TOM complex), which constitutes the main entry site for mitochondrial ...

Deciphering the “Missing Xenon Paradox” in Celestial Bodies: A Multifaceted Perspective Toward Demystifying This Enigma

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Xenon (Xe) is a heavy noble gas with intriguing chemical properties, such as having several stable isotopes and the ability to form compounds under extreme conditions. Despite the predictions based on cosmochemical models that suggest xenon should be relatively abundant in planetary reservoirs, empirical data indicate a significant depletion ...

Synneusis: does its preservation imply magma mixing?

open access: yesMineralogia, 2018
Abstract The Ghansura Felsic Dome (GFD) occurring in the Bathani volcano-sedimentary sequence was intruded by mafic magma during its evolution leading to magma mixing. In addition to the mafic and felsic rocks, a porphyritic intermediate rock occurs in the GFD.

Quantitative Analysis of Mineral Textures in the Mapeng Pluton (Central Taihang Mountains) and Its Implications for Magmatic Processes

open access: yesCrystals
The Mapeng pluton in the central Taihang Mountains hosts significant gold mineralization; however, the magmatic processes controlling its emplacement, crystallization, and potential role in ore genesis remain debated.

The Efficient Delivery of Highly Siderophile Elements to the Core Creates a Mass Accretion Catastrophe for the Earth

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The excess abundance of highly siderophile elements (HSEs), as inferred for the terrestrial planets and the Moon, is thought to record a “late veneer” of impacts after the giant impact phase of planet formation. Estimates for total mass accretion during this period typically assume all HSEs delivered remain entrained in the mantle.

Global Detection and Morphological Characterization of Seamounts With Weakly Supervised Deep Learning

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract Seamounts are submarine volcanic features that record the tectonic and magmatic evolution of Earth's interior, yet their global distribution remains poorly resolved due to sparse high‐resolution bathymetric coverage. We present a weakly supervised deep learning framework that integrates gravity and bathymetric data to enable global‐scale ...

Magma–cumulate mixing identified by U–Th disequilibrium dating

open access: yesNature, 1988
Magma mixing is believed to be important in magmagenesis1, particularly in volcanic arcs2, where its influence is revealed by heterogeneous phenocryst populations3 and quenched inclusions4. Nevertheless isotope studies, particularly of uranium-series dis-equilibria, have concentrated on the analysis of bulk rock samples5–9; comprehensive U–Th mineral ...

Traces of Hecke operators on Drinfeld modular forms for GL2(Fq[T])$\operatorname{GL}_2(\mathbb {F}_q[T])$

open access: yesMathematika, Volume 72, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract In this paper, we study traces of Hecke operators on Drinfeld modular forms of level 1 in the case A=Fq[T]$A = \mathbb {F}_q[T]$. We deduce closed‐form expressions for traces of Hecke operators corresponding to primes of degree at most 2 and provide algorithms for primes of higher degree.

Magmatic Interaction as Recorded in Texture and Composition of Plagioclase Phenocrysts from the Sirjan Area, Urumieh-Dokhtar Magmatic Arc, Iran [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2009
Tertiary andesitic basalts of the Sirjan area, Urmieh-Dokhtar Magmatic Arc, Iran, contain plagioclase phenocrysts enclosed in a matrix of amphibole, clinopyroxene and rare olivine crystals.
