Brine Entrainment During Ice Shell Growth on Icy Worlds
Abstract The role of ocean composition in governing ice shell growth and ocean longevity on icy satellites remains poorly constrained. To address this, we develop a thermomechanical model of small to mid‐sized icy worlds that simulates ice shell growth from a saline ocean, explicitly quantifying brine entrainment through a parameterization of reactive ...

Ascending and descending Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar data sets from various satellites (CSK, RSAT‐2, ALOS‐2, and Sentinel‐1) show a maximum of ∼8 cm ground inflation in Masaya caldera over a 10 month period (6 November 2015 to 1 September ...

Abstract An intense seismic swarm started on 27 January 2025 in the Santorini‐Amorgos region and lasted for approximately 45 days. A widely observed seismic tremor on 14 February 2025 suggested a volcanic origin for the 2025 Santorini crisis. Here we present an in‐depth combined seismological analysis of the earthquakes and tremors that occurred during

Abstract Condor Seamount is among the most seismically active regions on the Azores Plateau. In December 2019, an earthquake crisis occurred at the tip of the seamount, which was strongly felt on nearby islands. Two months after the peak of the crisis, we deployed a local network of five ocean‐bottom seismometers around the seamount, recording ...

Field observations of extinct and exposed magma reservoirs shed light on processes operating in the roots of presently active volcanoes. The Reyðarártindur pluton, Southeast Iceland is an example of a fossil shallow magma reservoir that fed eruptions ...

To investigate the magma plumbing system beneath the Akan Caldera (Hokkaido, Japan), we conducted broadband magnetotelluric surveys and imaged its three-dimensional resistivity structure to a depth of approximately 30 km.

Origin of Long‐Wavelength Variations in Crustal Thickness on Rocky Planets
Abstract Long‐wavelength crustal thickness variations are observed on telluric planets, particularly on Mars and the Moon whereas Mercury appears to lack such variations. They may stem from two early‐stage positive feedback mechanisms that can emerge in stagnant‐lid planets.

The trigger mechanism of low-frequency earthquakes on Montserrat. [PDF]
A careful analysis of low-frequency seismic events on Soufrie`ere Hills volcano, Montserrat, points to a source mechanism that is non-destructive, repetitive, and has a stationary source location.

Seismic Exploration for Magmatic Brine Lenses: An Example From Soufrière Hills Volcano, Montserrat
Abstract The majority of metallic ore deposits are related to processes associated with ancient or modern volcanic systems. Beyond geothermal energy production, volcanoes also represent a potential resource of critical metals, including those required for carbon‐neutral technologies. Geothermal metals occur in subsurface fluid reservoirs fed by surface
