Large-volume silicic volcanism poses global hazards in the form of proximal pyroclastic density currents, distal ash fall and short-term climate perturbations, which altogether warrant the study of how silicic magma bodies evolve and assemble.

Melt stripping and agglutination of pyroclasts during the explosive eruption of low viscosity magmas
The pyroclast properties and features can provide insights into the dynamics of explosive eruptions of low viscosity magma. Here, the authors show how lava droplets, or pyroclasts are subject to melt removal and melt addition during transport in a gas ...

On the long-distance transport of Ferrar magmas [PDF]
Abstract The distribution and geochemical relationships of the Early Jurassic Ferrar large igneous province (LIP) are examined and it is concluded that they support the lateral flow model for the emplacement of the province, with a source along the strongly magmatic Early Jurassic Antarctica–Africa rifted margin.

Seismic Imaging of a Magma Chamber and Melt Recharge of the Dormant Datong Volcanoes
The Datong volcanoes erupted episodically from ca. 0.74 to ca 0.10 Ma with the last eruption at ca. 100 ka, and ever since has remained dormant. It remains elusive whether the Datong volcanoes are being recharged and would become active again in the near

ABSTRACT This research paper provides an extensive study of the effects of Darcy–Forchheimer von‐Karman spinning flow of Maxwell fluid across a stretching disk including the effect of heat generation based on a nonlinear function of temperature. The flow system is influenced by thermal radiations and Arrhenius activation energy.

Coupled dissolution‐reprecipitation of early formed Cd‐, Fe‐, Ag‐ and Sb‐poor sphalerite through interaction with high‐temperature and high‐sulphur fugacity Cu‐rich fluids, responsible for the formation of the yellow ores, resulted in the formation of Cd‐, Fe‐, Ag‐ and Sb‐rich, heavily chalcopyrite‐diseased sphalerite and enrichment of critical metals ...

Ocean Circulation on Tide-locked Lava Worlds. II. Scalings
On tidally locked lava planets, a magma ocean can form on the permanent dayside. The circulation of the magma ocean can be driven by stellar radiation and atmospheric winds.

Early zircon saturation and crystallisation occur in mafic (52–54 wt.% SiO2) lavas at Tengchong volcanic field. These early formed zircons with high δ18O (6.6‰–7.9‰) indicates mantle enrichment by subducted supracrustal materials. ABSTRACT Late Pleistocene (< 0.2 Ma) mafic and evolved volcanic rocks occur in northern Tengchong Volcanic Field, SE ...
