Unveiling the Interplay: Salinity‐Modulated Defence Mechanisms in Medicago truncatula Against Phoma medicaginis Infection

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Salt stress differentially affects the Medicago truncatula–Phoma medicaginis interaction: Low salinity boosts resistance via polyphenols, membrane lipids and jasmonic acid‐salicylic acid pathways while high salinity reduces it. ABSTRACT In nature, plants are subjected to an interplay of biotic and abiotic stresses that impede their growth and overall ...

Complementation of the Magnaporthe grisea ΔcpkA Mutation by the Blumeria graminis PKA-c Gene: Functional Genetic Analysis of an Obligate Plant Pathogen

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2001
Obligate plant-pathogenic fungi have proved extremely difficult to characterize with molecular genetics because they cannot be cultured away from host plants and only can be manipulated experimentally in limited circumstances.

Leaf Eh and pH: A Novel Indicator of Plant Stress. Spatial, Temporal and Genotypic Variability in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A wealth of knowledge has been published in the last decade on redox regulations in plants. However, these works remained largely at cellular and organelle levels. Simple indicators of oxidative stress at the plant level are still missing. We developed a

Molecular Mechanisms of Plant Growth–Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) in Biofertilization and Disease Suppression of Crops

open access: yesInternational Journal of Agronomy, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Plant growth–promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are beneficial soil bacteria that colonize the rhizosphere and enhance plant growth through direct and indirect mechanisms, including nutrient solubilization, phytohormone production, suppression of phytopathogens, and activation of plant defense mechanisms.

Evaluation of antimicrobial activities of extracts of endophytic fungi from Artemisia annua

open access: yesBangladesh Journal of Pharmacology, 2012
The endophytic extracts of 11 fungi associated with asympomatic Artemisia annua Linn., were evaluated for antimicrobial activity against three human pathogenic microbes, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Trichophyton rubrum, and two plant ...

Silver‐selenium nanoparticles and selected chemical compounds significantly inhibit grapevine trunk disease pathogens

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 12, Page 7985-7994, December 2025.
A 2‐year in planta study confirmed antifungal activity of selected chemicals against GTD pathogens. Silver‐selenium nanoparticles inhibited D. eres and E. lata, but not D. seriata. Despite limited spectrum, they show promise as alternatives for targeted GTD control, with no phytotoxic effects observed.

Mining Actinomycetes' Metabolomes and Genomes for Anti‐Phytophthora infestans Compounds

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 12, December 2025.
Using a comparative metabolomic and genomic approach on 63 actinomycetes, this study identified 75 compounds associated with the strains' ability to inhibit the late blight‐causing agent Phytophthora infestans. This study highlighted the promise of applying multi‐omics techniques on closely related strains differing in biological activity to pinpoint ...

Identification of Fungicides in Hevea brasiliensis Latex Serum Extracts and Inhibition Against Phytophthora palmivora, a Black Rot Disease Pathogen in Orchids

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2025.
ABSTRACT The para rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) is an economic crop cultivated worldwide, particularly in Southeast Asia. Their latex serum is commonly treated as waste in the rubber industry. We aimed to investigate the latex serum for its antifungal activity.
