Fast Switching Ferroelectric Materials for Accelerator Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Fast switching (< 10 nsec) measurement results on the recently developed BST(M) (barium strontium titanium oxide composition with magnesium-based additions) ferroelectric materials are presented.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Effect of alloying elements in melt spun Mg-alloys for hydrogen storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we report the effect of alloying elements on hydrogen storage properties of melt-spun Mg-based alloys. The base alloys Mg90Si10, Mg90Cu10, Mg65Cu35 (at%) were studied.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Toxicological profile of new biologically active substances – lithium and magnesium tartrategermanates

open access: yesJournal of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University: Series Medicine
Background. One of the most promising ways for development of new potential medical agents is to combine metal ions with bioligands that are derivatives of natural metabolites, in particular organic acids, which may be accompanied by an increase in the ...

Predicting the inhibition efficiencies of magnesium dissolution modulators using sparse machine learning models

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials, 2021
The degradation behaviour of magnesium and its alloys can be tuned by small organic molecules. However, an automatic identification of effective organic additives within the vast chemical space of potential compounds needs sophisticated tools. Herein, we

Interface Engineering of Aluminum-magnesium Compounds

open access: yesMaterials Today: Proceedings, 2015
Abstract To combine the low density of magnesium with the corrosion resistance of aluminum in one component, a joint processing has gained scientific interest. It has been shown, that Al-Mg compounds and components with the material combination AlMgSi1/MgAl3Zn can be produced successfully by hydrostatic co-extrusion and forging.

Electrocarboxylation in supercritical CO2 and CO2-expanded liquids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this study, the electrocarboxylation of benzyl chloride in pressurized CO2, or pressurized mixtures of dimethylformamide (DMF) and CO2, was investigated in order to synthesize phenylacetic acid.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The model approach of the marketing strategy creation [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2005
The reserve base is 3400 million tonnes of magnesium content. Identified world resources of magnesite total some 12 billion tonnes, and there are also large resources of magnesium-bearing substitutes such as dolomite, brucite and olivine.
