Effect of the magnetic pole arrangement on the surface roughness of STS 304 by magnetic abrasive machining

International Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing, 2014
In this study, a magnetic pole vibration device that uses a proximity sensor for magnetic abrasive finishing equipment using a permanent magnet was developed, and the performance of this system was proved, focusing on how the surface roughness of STS 304 pipes is affected by the magnetic pole arrangement.

A review on magnetically assisted abrasive flow machining and abrasive material type

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part E: Journal of Process Mechanical Engineering, 2022
The development of fine surface finish with no defects is still a significant challenge for the present industry and the finishing operation in the manufacturing of the precision components is the major problem. It is difficult rather impossible to polish/finish the difficult-to-reach surfaces, internal surfaces, and complex geometries by existing ...

A study of electrochemical magnetic abrasive machining process

International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, 2013
This paper presents the study of hybrid machining process consisting of electrochemical dissolution and magnetic abrasive machining. Experiments were conducted on self-developed cylindrical electrochemical magnetic abrasive machining (C-EMAM) setup to explore the finishing results of the process on non-magnetic stainless steel using unbonded magnetic ...

Special features of the magnetic abrasive machining

Refractories and Industrial Ceramics, 2006
It is shown, using electron microscopy, magnetic and friction methods, that a mixture of magnetic γ-Fe2O3 and abrasive powders, properly processed, can be used as a material for magnetoabrasive machining and polishing of variously shaped components.

Machining time estimation for magnetic abrasive processes

International Journal of Production Research, 1994
Abstract Here we present the magnetic abrasive process which is used to finish and size those workpieces that have been produced using standard machine tools. The process is proved to be very effective in achieving the desired finish size and roundness of the workpieces.
