Abstract Magnetically separable composite photocatalysts, TiO2 deposited on soft magnetic ferrite activated carbon (TFAC), were prepared by sol–gel and dip-coating technique. The prepared composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR), optical ...

The preparation and environmental applications of magnetic activated carbon
2011 International Conference on Electrical and Control Engineering, 2011Magnetization of activated carbon is an effective approach to separate and recover the spent activated carbon. Recently, synthesis of magnetic activated carbon has become a research focus in the fields of environment. The main objective of this study is to list and compare the advantages and disadvantages of different methods to preparation of magnetic

The formation of magnetic iron clusters on activated carbon
Hyperfine Interactions, 1990A series of carbon-supported iron samples for medical usage has been studied by means of Mossbauer spectroscopy. The spectra obtained at 300 K and 80 K show the coexistence of α-Fe and iron oxides particles. The influence of reduction temperature, pore size distribution and surface properties of active carbon on the state of iron are derived.

Electronic and Magnetic Properties of Activated Carbon Fibers
Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1996Abstract Activated carbon fibers (ACF) consist of microporous carbon with a huge specific surface area (SSA) ranging from 700 m2 g−1 to 3000 m2 g−1, and a having random structures consisting of an assembly of micrographites with a dimension of ca. 20 × 20 Å2.

Detection of Nanoscale Magnetic Activity Using a Single Carbon Nanotube
Nano Letters, 2008The ultimate conductometric sensor for ferromagnetic activity of nanoscale magnetic materials could be a single carbon nanotube. We show that the electrical conductance of an individual carbon nanotube is sensitive to magnetic transitions of nanoscale magnets embedded inside it. To establish this, multiwall carbon nanotubes were impregnated with cobalt

Magnetically Active and Coated Gadolinium-Filled Carbon Nanotubes
The Journal of Physical Chemistry C, 2013Gd-filled carbon nanotubes (which include the so-called gadonanotubes1) have been attracting much interest due to their potential use in medical diagnostic applications. In the present work, a vacuum filling method was performed to confine gadolinium(III) iodide in carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Filling yields in excess of 50% were obtained.

Magnetic modulation on chiroptical activities of nematically assembled carbon dots
Journal of Colloid and Interface ScienceEffectively harnessing the assembly of achiral carbon dots into a chiral manner is a prominent step for applying carbon dots into the area of stereoselective optoelectronics and theranostics. Herein, magnetic-modulated and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL)-active photonic thin films were presented in this article via co-assembly and magnetic ...

Magnetic Finishing Abrasive with Nickel-Plated Active Carbon
Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 2005A novel magnetic abrasive particle (MAP) was developed by using electroless nickel or nickel-diamond composite plating on active carbon (AC) powder. The chelating compound of picolinic acid with nickel anion was used in the activated process instead of the conventional PdCl 2 and SnCl 2 .

In the present work, the embedded-type TiO2/magnetic activated carbon (TiO2/MAC) photocatalysts were prepared. The MAC support was manufactured by one-step method and the TiO2coated on the surface of MAC was prepared by sol-gel method. Its crystalline structural properties, morphology, magnetic performances and pore texture were characterized by XRD ...
