Synthesis and characterization of magnetic activated carbon manufactured from palm stones by physical activation to remove lead from aqueous solution

open access: yesDesalination and Water Treatment
Activated carbon (AC) generated from palm date stone through physical activation and magnetic activated carbon (MAC) fabricated through co-precipitation of Fe3O4 were examined for their efficacy in removing lead (II) from aqueous solutions in batch mode.

Assessment of the adsorption capacity of phenol on magnetic activated carbon

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2021
AbstractIn this work, an alternative utilization of agro‐industrial waste coconut endocarp (Cocos nucifera L.) as raw material for the synthesis of magnetic adsorbent aiming the phenol removal is proposed. The synthetized adsorbent, denominated magnetic activated carbon (MAC), was prepared by coprecipitation of cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) onto activated ...

Effect of magnetic activated carbon on the surface hydrophobicity for initial biogranulation via response surface methodology

open access: yes, 2020
Biogranulation is an effective biological technology suitable for the treatment of various wastewaters. However, the major drawback of this technique is the long start-up period for biogranule development.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Solid-state NMR studies of absorption onto activated carbon [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This is a study of adsorption on three activated carbon substrates using solid- state NMR. The adsorbates used as probe molecules included a range of phosphates, phosphonates and deuterated water.
