Simultaneous measurement of thickness and lift-off using the tangential component of magnetic flux density in pulsed eddy current testing

Insight - Non-Destructive Testing and Condition Monitoring, 2021
The pulsed eddy current (PEC) technique is commonly used in the petrochemical and power generation industries to measure two parameters: the degree of pipe wall corrosion and the thickness of the insulation shield.

Eddy current testing by upgraded microloop magnetic sensor array

Electrical Engineering in Japan, 1996
AbstractA micro‐eddy current testing (ECT) probe, which consists of a planar microloop inductive magnetic sensor array and a pancake‐type exciting coil, was developed to upgrade the ECT technology, especially as it is used for inspecting steam generator tubing in a pressurized nuclear power plant (PWR).

Probe Localization by Magnetic Measurements in Eddy-Current Nondestructive Testing Environment

2018 5th IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for AeroSpace (MetroAeroSpace), 2018
Localization of eddy current probe in Nondestructive Testing allows merging the information of defect detection with positions. Typically, this task requires the usage of additional and costly position measurement systems or software assisted handlers in controlled laboratory conditions.

Eddy current tomography for testing of ferromagnetic and non-magnetic materials

Measurement Science and Technology, 2014
This paper presents an eddy current tomography setup with high spatial resolution and high accuracy of measurements of the signal on the detection coil. In the proposed solution both amplitude and phase shift are measured, which makes it possible to calculate the spatial distribution of both permeability and resistivity of the tested element.

Surface Profile Reconstruction of Complex Cracks Using the Signals of Rotating Eddy Current Testing Through the Eddy Current Imaging Method

IEEE transactions on industrial electronics (1982. Print), 2023
In industry, natural cracks usually exist in complex forms such as adjacent, colony, irregular, and crossing. Mere magnetic field is inadequate to accurately evaluate the complex cracks using eddy current testing.

Evaluation of 3D-Printed titanium alloy using eddy current testing with high-sensitivity magnetic sensor

NDT & E international, 2019
We developed ECT systems using high-sensitivity magnetic sensors with small size; and used the systems to evaluate a titanium alloy sample prepared by a 3D laser printer. Two systems were used.

Micro eddy current testing by micro magnetic sensor array

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1995
A micro Eddy Current Testing (ECT) system for planar thin specimens made of INCONEL 600 with flaws was proposed and developed. A micro ECT probe used here consists of a conventional pancake-type coil as an exciting coil and a micro magnetic sensor array as a set of pickup coils.

Detection of Surface and Back-Surface Defects on Metal Plate via Rectangular Wave Eddy Current Testing Using Magnetoresistive Sensor

IEEE transactions on magnetics, 2023
Eddy current testing (ECT) at different frequencies can identify surface and back-surface defects caused by the skin effect. Traditional ECT uses a pickup coil to measure the magnetic-field signal caused by eddy current.
