Chiral Rings, Anomalies and Electric-Magnetic Duality

open access: yes, 2004
We study electric-magnetic duality in the chiral ring of a supersymmetric U(N_c) gauge theory with adjoint and fundamental matter, in presence of a general confining phase superpotential for the adjoint and the mesons.

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Anomalous Hydrodynamics

open access: yes, 2005
Our goal is to examine the role of anomalies in the hydrodynamic regime of field theories. We employ methods based on gauge/gravity duality to examine R-charge anomalies in the hydrodynamic regime of stronly t'Hooft coupled, large N, N = 4 Super Yang ...

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in bulk and thin-film CuMnAs for antiferromagnetic memory applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
CuMnAs with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is proposed as an active material for antiferromagnetic memory. Information can be stored in the antiferromagnetic domain state, while writing and readout can rely on the existence of the surface ...

Bouguer and aeromagnetic anomalies in the Iberian Chain (NE Spain); a qualitative interpretation

open access: yesGeogaceta
This work shows the Bouguer and aeromagnetic anomaly maps of the Iberian Chain (NE Spain) and surroundings in relation to its main geological and structural units. In general, both gravity and aeromagnetic anomalies are aligned following the same trends

Inversion of Geomagnetic Anomalies Caused by Ore Masses Using Hunger Games Search Algorithm

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2023
Geomagnetic anomaly interpretation through inversion procedures often yields useful results in determining the key details of ore masses. However, the problem is complicated due to the known ambiguous phenomena of the inversion process.

Nanothermometry in Living Cells: Physical Limits, Conceptual and Material Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heat and temperature are fundamental to life. When nanothermometers began probing regions as small as a living cell, they triggered controversial claims of large intracellular temperature gradients. We review physical constraints energy‐conservation, entropy production, thermodynamic fluctuations, and molecular dynamics.
