Development and Degradation Study of PLA-Based Medical Implant Markers for Magnetic Particle Imaging. [PDF]

open access: yesMacromol Biosci
Nonpermanent marking technology is needed for medical instruments for accurate visualization in magnetic particle imaging. In this work, markers based on superparamagnetic iron‐oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) and polylactic acid (PLA) are developed and investigated over a time frame of 28 days.

Thermo‐based fatigue life prediction: A review

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 46, Issue 9, Page 3121-3144, September 2023., 2023
Abstract The main objective of this review paper is twofold: Recall the most captivating areas of research in predicting the fatigue life of metals with the application of thermal methodology, particularly for the stress‐controlled fatigue tests. The explicit lifetime models reviewed have been developed by scholars over the past two decades owing to ...

Characterization and Analysis of Plastic Instability in an Ultrafine‐Grained Medium Mn TRIP Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 24, Issue 9, September 2022., 2022
Herein, the mechanical and magnetic behaviors of a medium Mn transformation‐induced plasticity (TRIP) in its plastic instability are investigated. The methods of digital image correlation (DIC) and magnetic Barkhausen noise (MBN) are used to characterize the Lüders band propagation during quasistatic tensile deformation.

[Retracted] Nondestructive Testing of Coal Mine Wire Ropes Based on Magnetic Sensors

open access: yesInternational Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Safety is the first priority in production. The situation is complex in the deep underground of coal mines, and safety accidents often occur. Wire rope is a kind of safety device. With the help of wire rope, the safety of miners can be guaranteed to a certain extent. It is a very important tool for mining production.

Matteucci Effect and Single Domain Wall Propagation in Bistable Microwire under Applied Torsion

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 218, Issue 18, September 2021., 2021
The Matteucci effect, ME, in twisted magnetostrictive FeSiB microwire is correlated with the propagation of a single domain wall under an axial driving magnetic field. The asymmetry of both, ME and wall velocity, on the sense of applied torsion and field direction is interpreted in terms of the torsion magnetoelastic anisotropy and the magnetochiral ...

Cavity optomechanical sensing

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 10, Issue 11, Page 2799-2832, September 2021., 2021
Abstract Cavity optomechanical systems enable interactions between light and mechanical resonators, providing a platform both for fundamental physics of macroscopic quantum systems and for practical applications of precision sensing. The resonant enhancement of both mechanical and optical response in the cavity optomechanical systems has enabled ...

Tailoring of Magnetic Softness and Magnetoimpedance of Co‐Rich Microwires by Stress Annealing

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 218, Issue 12, June 2021., 2021
Stress annealing allows avoiding magnetic hardening and remarkably improving the magnetic softness and giant magnetoimpedance ratio of Co‐rich microwires. Properly stress‐annealed Co‐rich microwires present almost unhysteretic loops with coercivity about 2 A m−1 and magnetic anisotropy field about 35 A m−1.

Ferrite-Martensite Steels Characterization Using Magnetic Barkhausen Noise Measurements

open access: yesISIJ International, 2004
Magnetic Barkhausen noise measurements have been carried out to characterize Ferrite-Martensite steels. Using thermal treatments, the volume fraction and the carbon content of martensite were varied in reasonable proportions. The results indicate that the Barkhausen noise measurements can easily allows us to distinguish the two phases, ferrite and ...

Crackling Noise, Power Spectra and Disorder Induced Critical Scaling

open access: yes, 2001
Crackling noise is observed in many disordered non-equilibrium systems in response to slowly changing external conditions. Examples range from Barkhausen noise in magnets to acoustic emission in martensites to earthquakes.
