[1993] Digests of International Magnetics Conference, 1993
A variety of distance sensors suitable for application to magnetic levitation is examined. The characteristics of the sensors regarding the phase shift between in- and outgoing signals, frequency response, DC-stability, stability to EMF interference, resolution and temperature stability are analyzed.

Passively stabilized magnetic bearings
Digests of the 2010 14th Biennial IEEE Conference on Electromagnetic Field Computation, 2010This paper presents a new passive magnetic bearing system that is capable to rotate without contact at a short distance from a dedicated stator. The magnetic suspension is assured by the repulsion between two arrangements of permanent magnets located both on toroidal shaped stator and rotor. The stator magnets are surrounded by a conductive sheet.

Improvements of the Integration of Active Magnetic Bearings
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2000Abstract Functional and structural integration are tools to improve mechatronic systems that include active magnetic bearing systems. In this paper two aspects of the integration of electromagnetic bearings are presented: 1. The non-linearity of the magnetic force is compensated by software integrated in the digital controller. 2.

On LQ-control of magnetic bearing
IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 2000Control theory gives very few examples of control systems for which the closed-form solution to the linear-quadratic (LQ) optimization problem exists. The paper describes two such systems of second- and fourth-order concerning magnetic bearings and gives the closed-form solutions to the LQ-problems.

Compensation for unbalances at magnetic bearings
1997The aim of this paper is to provide a new method to compensate remaining unbalances at magnetic bearings. The compensating signal will be generated by a MLP-network. The main advantage that this new method presents lies in the simplified manner of operation rather than in a qualitative improvement of disturbance compensation.
