SIMPLE ELECTRO-MAGNETIC CIRCUITS
2007The simplest component which utilizes electro-magnetic interaction is the coil. A coil is an energy storage component, which stores energy in magnetic form. Air-cored coils are frequently used (for example, in loudspeaker filters), but coils with a core of (possibly gapped-) magnetic material are more common, because of their increased inductance (or ...

Magnetic Circuits: Inductors and Permanent Magnets
2011Static magnetic devices used in electromechanical energy conversion processes (e.g., rotating machines, rectifiers, inverters) are inductors and (permanent) magnets: their operation is based on Maxwell’s equations [1] and in particular for low-frequency (f < 50 kHz) applications on Ampere’s and Faraday’s laws neglecting displacement currents.

Magnetic Circuits Employing Ceramic Magnets
Proceedings of the IRE, 1961Measurements of the field produced by a ceramic, brick-shaped magnet show that the assumption of fixed, uniform magnetization is a useful approximation to the physical state of the magnet. One consequence is that the magnetization is easily measured without disturbing the physical state of the magnet.

A proposition to introduce a change in the units of the magnetic circuit was made at the meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission (I. E. C.) in Bellagio, September 1927. The proposition was referred to an international subcommittee for consideration and report, by the Advisory I. E. C. Committee on Nomenclature.
