Magnetic Field-Controlled Microfluidic Transport
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2001Several new forms of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow occurring in the solution gap between two 250-microm-diameter Pt microdisk electrodes, oriented in a face-to-face geometry and immersed in a uniform magnetic field (1 T), are described. The MHD flow results from the Lorentz force generated by diffusion of electrochemically generated molecular ions ...

A Proton Magnetic Field Controller
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1972We have designed, constructed, and operated a magnetic field controller that locks the field to a proton nuclear magnetic resonance signal. The frequency of the proton spectrometer is, in turn, locked to a frequency swept synthesizer. The controller operates over ±1000 Oe centered at 3000 Oe. The long term stability is 3×10−3 Oe.

A High Efficiency, Decoupled On-board Battery Charger with Magnetic Control
IEEE International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Applications, 2018In this paper, a high efficiency, decoupled on-board battery charger is proposed. The proposed topology is composed of two LLC resonant converters sharing the same full-bridge inverter with constant switching frequency.

A High Efficiency Single Stage Bi-directional Battery Charger with Magnetic Control
IEEE Power Engineering and Automation Conference, 2018In this paper, a high efficiency single stage bi-directional battery charger for light electric vehicles (LEVs) is proposed. In Grid-to-Vehicle (G2V) mode, single stage operation is achieved by sharing switches between totem-pole bridgeless power factor ...

Ion-Controlled Collisionless Magnetic Reconnection
Physical Review Letters, 1995A theory of fast collisionless reconnection is presented. Because of the Hall term in Ohm's law, electron and ion dynamics decouple on scales smaller than the ion inertial length $\frac{c}{{\ensuremath{\omega}}_{\mathrm{pi}}}$. Though reconnection requires electron inertia to break the frozen-flux constraint, the rate is essentially independent of the ...

MAGNETIC MICROTRAPS FOR QUANTUM CONTROL
International Journal of Quantum Information, 2007We will review the realization of magnetic microtraps for ultracold atoms. Such devices combine experimental simplicity with unsurpassed versatility in designing confining potentials. We will show how combining magnetic microtraps with optical lattices one can realize many possible quantum systems of interest in many fields ranging from solid state ...

A magnetic amplifier frequency control
Electrical Engineering, 1950TO SUPPLY power to certain types of shipboard instruments, a source of alternating current is required in which the frequency error must be ±0.1 per cent or less over a range of temperatures, loads, and supply voltages. This need has been met by the use of small motor-driven alternators which run on the ship's d-c power supply.

Controlling magnetic dipole transition with magnetic plasmonic structures
Optics Letters, 2011A plasmonic structure with double gold patches is proposed for enhancing the spontaneous emission of a magnetic dipole transition through a magnetic hot area. A Purcell factor of nearly 2000 can be obtained at optical frequencies together with a low sensitivity in spatial and spectral mismatches between the light emitter and the resonance mode.
