Decadal‐Scale In Situ Scanning of a Stalagmite From Southwest China Reveals Blake Geomagnetic Excursion Structure

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
We present a decadal‐scale paleomagnetic analysis of a stalagmite collected from Shuixi Cave, southwest China, spanning 89−123 ka. Our findings include: (a) Magnetite is the dominant magnetic mineral, and paleomagnetic directions can be obtained via ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Automatic fluxgate theodolite in the Phase II of Chinese Meridian Project

open access: yes地球与行星物理论评
Absolute observation and relative record are two methods in geomagnetic station observation. The actual values of geomagnetic field elements can be obtained after the relative record data is corrected by baseline data.

II. On the lunar-diurnal variation of the magnetic declination with special regard to the Moon’s declination [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London
Abstract The hourly records of the magnetic declination systematically kept at the Flagstaff Observatory at Melbourne, Victoria, during the period from the 1st of May 1858 to the 28th of February 1863, have been discussed by the author, with a view to determine the lunar-diurnal variation to which that magnetic element is subject. The

Hot‐Film and Calorimetric Methods With Transient Heating for Measurement of High Biofluid Flow Rate

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Accurate measurement of biofluid flow rate is vital for clinical diagnostics. We propose a transient heating strategy using short thermal pulses and peak temperature tracking to enhance the flow sensitivity of the hot‐Film and calorimetric methods. Simulations show how optimal heating time maximizes sensitivity across flow rates.

Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.
