S-band Polarization All Sky Survey (S-PASS): survey description and maps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We present the S-Band Polarization All Sky Survey (S-PASS), a survey of polarized radio emission over the southern sky at Dec~$< -1^\circ$ taken with the Parkes radio telescope at 2.3~GHz.

Halley's Chart of Magnetic Declinations [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1896
WITHIN the last few days I have come into possession of another early map showing Halley's lines. The date of this map is 1725, and it was published by John Senex, F.R.S. It is entitled “A Map of the World, corrected from the Observations communicated to the Royal Societys of London and Paris.” The map consists of the two hemispheres, each of which is ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

GPS Measurement Protocol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The purpose of this resource is to determine the latitude, longitdue, and elevation of your school and of all your GLOBE sites. The GPS receiver will be used to determine the latitude, longitude and elevation of your school or of your GLOBE sites ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Notes on the history of geophysics in the Ottoman Empire [PDF]

open access: yesHistory of Geo- and Space Sciences, 2014
In Anatolia, the history of geophysical sciences may go back to antiquity (600 BC), namely the period when Thales lived in Magnesia (Asia Minor). In the modern sense, geophysics started with geomagnetic works in the 1600s.

Errors in Scale Values for Magnetic Elements for Helsinki

open access: yes, 2014
Using several lines of evidence we show that the scale values of the geomagnetic variometers operating in Helsinki in the 19th century were not constant throughout the years of operation 1844-1897.

A possible effect of atmospheric circulation in the daily variation of the earth's magnetic field. II. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1965
Seasonal features that are not related in a simple way to solar declination occur in the daily variation of the horizontal intensity of the earth's magnetic field at Tucson, as at Honolulu studied previously.

Magnetic declination and climate change

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2022
Abstract Earth’s Magnetic Field is the magnetic field extended from inner Earth till out to space, meeting the solar wind. Its importance is crucial due to the deflection in most of solar wind having as a result the existence of ozone layer and the protection of Earth from UV radiation - a basic mechanism for preservation of life on ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
