Laboratory astrophysics : investigation of planetary and astrophysical maser emission

open access: yes, 2013
This paper describes a model for cyclotron maser emission applicable to planetary auroral radio emission, the stars UV Ceti and CU Virginus, blazar jets and astrophysical shocks.

Orientation memory of magnetic dipoles

open access: yesPhysical Review D
We study the precession caused by electromagnetic radiation on a magnetic dipole located far from the source. As we show, this entails a net rotation of the dipole in the plane orthogonal to the direction of wave propagation, providing an electromagnetic analogue of gyroscopic gravitational memory.

Magnetic dipole moment of a moving electric dipole [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physics, 2012
The current density of a moving electric dipole is expressed as the sum of polarization and magnetization currents. The magnetic field due to the latter current is that of a magnetic dipole moment that is consistent with the relativistic transformations of the polarization and magnetization of macroscopic electrodynamics.

Directional Flow of Confined Polaritons in CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
CrSBr, a layered magnetic semiconductor, naturally channels self‐hybridized excitonpolaritons into highly directional flow. Its intrinsic optical anisotropy, high refractive index, and strong lightmatter coupling enable long‐range guided modes along the a‐axis, with propagation lengths set by their excitonphoton admixture.

Magnetic Purcell Enhancement by Plasmon-Induced Magnetic Anapole Mode in the Gap of Oblate Nano-Ellipsoid on Metal Mirror Structure

open access: yesNanomaterials
Magnetic anapole states associated with the destructive interference between magnetic dipole and magnetic toroidal moments result in suppressed scattering accompanied by strongly enhanced near fields.

Role of the Recombination Zone in Organic Light‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the critical role of the recombination zone in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). We highlight that broadening the recombination zone in OLEDs based on emissive layers with balanced charge transport and high photoluminescence quantum yields provides a promising route toward achieving both long operational lifetime and high ...

Room‐Temperature Skyrmionic Synapse in 2D Ferromagnet Fe3GaTe2 Operating via Collective Spin Texture Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a neuromorphic synapse in 2D Fe3GaTe2 flakes. The device operates via a current‐driven transformation from a skyrmion‐lattice to a stripe‐domain state, yielding a linear anomalous Hall resistance response with a tunable slope to enable multiply‐accumulate operations. Simulations confirm its viability in artificial neural networks.

Electromagnetic response in dipole superfluids

open access: yesCommunications Physics
The Meissner effect is a hallmark of superconductivity arising from the interplay between charged superfluids and electromagnetic fields. However, superfluidity can also occur in systems of charge-neutral particles with magnetic or electric dipole ...

Helium-3 magnetic dipole moment determination by using quark constituents for all possible baryon formations

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2017
We perform the calculation of the Helium-3 magnetic dipole moment in quark model of nuclei, by assuming a nucleon’s structure is given in terms of its constituent quark structure.

Miniature Soft Robot With Magnetically Reprogrammable Surgical Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Miniature soft robots have great prospects to revolutionize minimally invasive treatments. Here we present a miniature soft robot, which can be reprogrammed to perform five surgical functionalities with six‐degrees‐of‐freedom motions. This soft robot can prospectively make minimally invasive surgery considerably safer and painless, and enable ...
