New DyHoCo medium entropy amorphous microwires of large magnetic entropy change
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2020Abstract We report upon the excellent magnetocaloric effect in melt-extracted DyHoCo medium entropy microwires. The magnetic entropy change (-ΔSM) reaches a large value of ∼11.2 J kg−1 K−1 for a field change (μ0ΔH) of 5 T. The large value of -ΔSM is resulted from the large magnetic moments of Dy and Ho.

More accurate calculations of the magnetic entropy changes
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2009Abstract A series of Ni 44− x Co x Mn 45 Sn 11 ( x =0, 1, 2) alloys were prepared by means of arc melting, magnetization curves under different temperatures were measured using vibrating sample magnetometer. The bicubic interpolations method was employed to calculate the magnetization M ( T , H ), and the magnetic entropy changes were figured

Magnetic entropy change in La0.75Ca0.25−xSrxMnO3 perovskites
Solid State Communications, 1998Abstract Magnetic entropy change has been studied in a series of polycrystalline samples of La 0.75 Ca 0.25− x Sr x MnO 3 with fixed carrier concentration and gradual change in the average ionic radius of the La site 〈 r A 〉. In a fixed crystal structure with orthorhombic or rhombohedral phase, we found that the magnetic entropy change ...

Making the most of the magnetic and lattice entropy changes
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2009Abstract Recent discoveries of novel materials exhibiting a magnetocaloric effect that is strongly enhanced by the magnetoelastic coupling—the so-called giant magnetocaloric effect materials—stimulated an unprecedented expansion of research related both to the fundamentals of the phenomenon and potential future applications of these materials in ...

Anisotropic magnetoresistivity and magnetic entropy change in HoAl2
Intermetallics, 2016Abstract We report a correlation between magnetoresistivity Δρ mag and magnetic entropy change ΔS mag for specified crystallographic directions of a HoAl 2 single crystal. This ferromagnetic compound shows differentiated behavior among the members of the RAl 2 series due to the presence of spontaneous spin reorientation.

Large magnetic entropy change in La0.67−xGdxCa0.33Mno3
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1997Abstract A magnetic entropy change larger than that of gadolinium has been observed in perovskite manganites La 0.67− x Gd x Ca 0.33 MnO 3 ( x = 0, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.15) with fixed carrier concentration. The large magnetic entropy change produced by the abrupt reduction of magnetization is attributed to an anomalous thermal expansion at the Curie

Accessibility investigation of large magnetic entropy change in CoMn1−xFexGe
Journal of Applied Physics, 2016The influence of Fe doping for Mn in CoMn1−xFexGe alloys on their structural and magnetic phase transitions was investigated. CoMn1−xFexGe alloys display a first-order magneto-structural transition from a high temperature paramagnetic hexagonal Ni2In-type crystal structure to a low temperature ferromagnetic orthorhombic TiNiSi-type structure.

Magnetic properties and magnetic entropy change of amorphous and crystalline GdNiAl ribbons
Applied Physics A: Materials Science & Processing, 2002The structure and magnetic properties of amorphous melt-spun and subsequently crystallized GdNiAl ribbons were investigated. An amorphous phase was formed after the quenching process by melt spinning with a copper wheel having a surface speed of 30 m/s.

Effects of carbon on magnetic properties and magnetic entropy change of the LaFe11.5Si1.5 compound
Journal of Applied Physics, 2003Effects of the interstitial carbon atoms on the magnetic properties, especially on the magnetic entropy change, of the LaFe11.5Si1.5 compound, have been studied. X-ray diffraction patterns reveal a monotonous increase of the lattice constant with the concentration of carbon, while the cubic NaZn13-type structure remains unchanged.
