Interactions between magnetohydrodynamic shear instabilities and convective flows in the solar interior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Motivated by the interface model for the solar dynamo, this paper explores the complex magnetohydrodynamic interactions between convective flows and shear-driven instabilities.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Magnetic Field Effects on Hadron Yields and Fluctuations [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
We explore the impact of an external magnetic field on hadron yields and fluctuations in a thermalized system within the hadron resonance gas (HRG) model using an expanded Thermal-FIST package. The magnetic field sizably enhances the final proton-to-pion

Influence of Magnetic Field on Corrosion Behavior of Pure Aluminum in 3.5 wt.% NaCl Solution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2020
The effects of magnetic field on the corrosion behavior of pure aluminum and the properties of 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution were investigated by electrochemical measurement, pH and conductivity tests.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Controlling the size of nanoparticles using a magnetic field: a sphere packing approach

open access: yesScientific Reports
We present an analytical framework that predicts and controls nanoparticle size through external magnetic fields, uniting first-principles thermodynamics with a sphere packing approach.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Stellar evolution with rotation and magnetic fields:I. The relative importance of rotational and magnetic effects

open access: yes, 2003
We compare the current effects of rotation in stellar evolution to those of the magnetic field created by the Tayler instability. In stellar regions, where magnetic field can be generated by the dynamo due to differential rotation (Spruit 2002), we find ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Isotropic and Anisotropic Regimes of the Field-Dependent Spin Dynamics in Sr2IrO4: Raman Scattering Studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A major focus of experimental interest in Sr2IrO4 has been to clarify how the magnetic excitations of this strongly spin-orbit coupled system differ from the predictions of anisotropic 2D spin-1/2 Heisenberg model and to explore the extent to which ...
