Magnetic field-mappings in low field large-aperture accelerator magnets

Magnetic Field Mapping with a Squid Device
An ability to experimentally determine the magnetic field in the region close to the face of an eddy current coil, the normal location of the work piece, is very desirable. It allows confirmation of the theoretical design of complex coils, offers a potential method for rapid characterization of commercial coils, and may well provide a uniquely direct ...

This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Quantum Sensing in Tweezer Arrays: Optical Magnetometry on an Individual-Atom Sensor Grid
We implement a scalable platform for quantum sensing comprising hundreds of sites capable of holding individual laser-cooled atoms and demonstrate the applicability of this single-quantum-system sensor array to magnetic field mapping on a two-dimensional

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Dynamics of the Coronal Magnetic Field in the 2022 October 2 X-class Flare
Solar flares are driven by the release of free magnetic energy and are often associated with the restructurization of the magnetic field topology. Yet, observations of the evolving magnetic field in the flaring volume are limited to very few cases ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...
