Magnetic dephasing in mesoscopic spin glasses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We have measured Universal Conductance Fluctuations in the metallic spin glass Ag:Mn as a function of temperature and magnetic field. From this measurement, we can access the phase coherence time of the electrons in the spin glass.

Room temperature multiferroicity in orthorhombic LuFeO$_3$

open access: yes, 2014
From the measurement of dielectric, ferroelectric, and magnetic properties we observe simultaneous ferroelectric and magnetic transitions around $\sim$600 K in orthorhombic LuFeO$_3$. We also observe suppression of the remanent polarization by $\sim$95\%

Magnetic Field Measurement in Beta-Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 1947
To measure precisely the instantaneous value of a magnetic field, a device consisting of a drum-armature wound on a Lucite form and rotated by a synchronous motor is described. The direct voltage output is taken off by commutator and brushes, both of silver, to a potentiometer. Changes of 0.01 gauss can be observed.

Co-registration of OPM-MCG signals with CT using optical scanning

open access: yesiScience, 2023
Summary: Magnetocardiography (MCG) can be used to noninvasively measure the electrophysiological activity of myocardial cells. The high spatial resolution of magnetic source localization can precisely determine the location of cardiomyopathy, which is of

Real Space Visualization of Thermomagnetic Irreversibility within Supercooling and Superheating Spinodals in $Mn_{1.85}Co_{0.15}Sb$ using Scanning Hall Probe Microscopy

open access: yes, 2009
Phase coexistence across disorder-broadened and magnetic-field-induced first order antiferromagnetic to ferrimagnetic transition in polycrystalline $Mn_{1.85}Co_{0.15}Sb$ has been studied mesoscopically by Scanning Hall Probe Microscope at 120K and up to

Coronal Magnetic Field Measurements

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2004
A long-standing solar problem has been to measure the coronal magnetic field. We believe it determines the coronal structure and dynamics from the upper chromosphere out into the heliospheric environment. It is only recently that Zeeman splitting observations of infrared coronal emission lines have been successfully used to deduce the coronal magnetic ...

Dosimetric evidence confirms computational model for magnetic field induced dose distortions of therapeutic proton beams

open access: yes, 2017
Given the sensitivity of proton therapy to anatomical variations, this cancer treatment modality is expected to benefit greatly from integration with magnetic resonance (MR) imaging.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Comprehensive analysis on the magnetic field error of a K–Rb–21Ne comagnetometer with low-frequency bias magnetic field sensitivity

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2023
The spin-exchange relaxation-free comagnetometer (SERFC) is of important research value compared to existing high-precision gyroscopes because of its extremely high theoretical limit sensitivity and long-term stability, in which one significant limiting ...

A proposed measurement of the ß asymmetry in neutron decay with the Los Alamos Ultra-Cold Neutron Source [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This article reviews the status of an experiment to study the neutron spin-electron angular correlation with the Los Alamos Ultra-Cold Neutron (UCN) source.
