Semiannual and annual modulation of the magnetic field

Planetary and Space Science, 1972
Abstract Autospectrums computed from 24 series of monthly horizontal intensity at Alibag, derived from observations restricted to a single hour of the day at a time, establish the existence of intervals when the semiannual and annual modulations of the field assume large magnitudes.

Magnetic field modulating in-line fiber polarization modulator based on microfiber and magnetic fluid

Applied Physics Letters, 2017
We demonstrate an in-line fiber polarization modulator (FPM) which is constructed by immersing a microfiber into magnetic fluid (MF) and modulated with the magnetic field. The polarization modulation principle is based on the magneto-optical dichroism of the MF and the non-circular symmetric distribution of magnetic nanoparticles around the microfiber.

Specific heat of magnetic fluids under a modulated magnetic field

Journal of Applied Physics, 2003
Due to the increasing importance of thermal devices in engineering applications, the investigation of the thermal properties of magnetic fluids has become necessary. In this work, we report both the temperature and field dependence of the specific heat of a water-based magnetic fluid.

Lattice Modulation and Magnetic Structure of Er Induced by Magnetic Field

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1999
The crystal lattice modulation of Er which is induced by various magnetic structures has been studied by means of X-ray diffraction technique under magnetic field along the a -axis of the hexagonal close packing crystal structure. At 35 K, the 2nd and 4th order satellites caused by the lattice modulation have been observed below the magnetic field of 4.

Deterministic diffusion and magnetotransport in periodically modulated magnetic fields

Physical Review B, 1993
A novel type of magnetoresistance oscillations is predicted when a two-dimensional electron gas is subjected to a magnetic field that varies periodically in both lateral directions. A semiclassical model is examined in perturbation theory and numerically.

An Axial-Field Flux-Modulated Magnetic Gear

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2016
This paper proposes an axial-field flux-modulated magnetic gear (AF-FMMG), in which the rotations with different speeds of the inner rotor and the outer rotor can be achieved based on the modulation function of two stationary modulation rings. Due to the axial-flux configuration, the proposed AF-FMMG offers the advantages of a simpler mechanical ...

Local Modulation of Solar Oscillations by Magnetic Fields

Solar Physics, 2004
The amplitudes of solar oscillations measured in Doppler velocity are modulated by the presence of a strong photospheric magnetic field. Here we show that the amount of modulation cannot be predicted solely on the local photospheric magnetic field strength.

On NMR spin imaging by magnetic field modulation

Applied Physics, 1980
A general formalism is presented for the analysis of NMR spin imaging spectra obtained with magnetic field modulation during the free induction decay. We show that weighted integrals of the spin density distribution are measured by this technique and deduce a prescription for reconstructing this distribution from the recorded free induction decay ...

Magnetic Field Imaging (MFI) of Solar Modules

2018
Solar energy has become increasingly economical, especially in recent years. Defects in solar systems can endanger this economic efficiency. In solar modules electric currents generated by electrical or light induced injection flow distributed over the module area.
