Multi-dimensional sensing of magnetic field

Proceedings of the 33rd Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002
Silicon sensors capable of measuring the two in-plane components of magnetic field and the total magnetic field vector are presented. The devices are based on lateral magnetotransistor action and are designed as differential multicollector structures.

Metal dimer nanojunction-magnetic material composites for magnetic field sensing

Materials Horizons
As a magnetic field sensor, the dimer nanojunction composite has a highly sensitive Raman scattering spectrum under an external magnetic field, which is caused by a change in the nanocrystal spacing in the dimer nanojunction.

Residual magnetic field sensing for stress measurement

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2007
The evaluation of both applied and residual stresses in engineering structures to provide early indications of stress status and eventual failure is a fast growing area in non-destructive testing. Much work has been done in recent years in the development of magnetic stress measurement techniques for ferromagnetic materials using applied magnetic ...

Nanocomposite films with magnetic field sensing properties

Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 2014
Abstract La 0.67 Sr 0.33 MnO 3 (LSMO) and LSMO:ZnO nanocomposite thin films were fabricated on SiO 2 /Si and (0001) Al 2 O 3 substrates through solution deposition routes. The LSMO grain size reduced in the composite films as compared to that in pure LSMO film resulting in a larger volume fraction of grain boundaries.

Fiber optic sensing of magnetic fields

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1990
Interferometric fiber sensors using highly magnetostrictive amorphous metals have demonstrated the capability to detect magnetic fields with high resolution. These sensors have potential applications in the areas of geophysics, medical technology, and a variety of commercial and military fields.

Wearable magnetic field sensing for finger tracking

Proceedings of the 2020 International Symposium on Wearable Computers, 2020
Obtaining a signal useful for continuous pointing input is still an open problem for wearables. While magnetic field sensing is one promising approach, there are significant limitations. Our key contribution in this work is a simulation of a system that tracks a magnet in 3D while also accounting for the ambient magnetic field.

Magnetic-field sensing with a single-mode fiber

Optics Letters, 1981
A fiber-optic magnetic-field sensor is constructed by bonding a single-mode fiber to a nickel cylinder. The magnetic field, by means of the magnetostrictive effect, alters the state of polarization of light in the fiber. A sensitivity of 1.76 x 10(-2) rad/m Oe is demonstrated, permitting detection of fields as small as 4.4 x 10(-6) Oe/m of fiber.
