A Highly Magnetic Field Sensitive Photonic Crystal Fiber Based on Surface Plasmon Resonance
A novel magnetic field sensor comprising a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is designed and investigated based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR). We use finite element analysis in order to analyze the sensing characteristics of the magnetic field sensor ...

Relating near-Earth observations of an interplanetary coronal mass ejection to the conditions at its site of origin in the solar corona [PDF]
A halo coronal mass ejection (CME) was detected on January 20, 2004. We use solar remote sensing data (SOHO, Culgoora) and near-Earth in situ data (Cluster) to identify the CME source event and show that it was a long duration flare in which a magnetic ...

Sensing electric and magnetic fields with Bose-Einstein condensates [PDF]
We experimentally demonstrate that one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensates brought close to microfabricated wires on an atom chip are a very sensitive sensor for magnetic and electric fields reaching a sensitivity to potential variations of ∼10−14eV at 3μm spatial resolution.

Magnetic Field Triggered Multicycle Damage Sensing and Self Healing [PDF]
AbstractMultifunctional materials inspired by biological structures have attracted great interest, e.g. for wearable/ flexible “skin” and smart coatings. A current challenge in this area is to develop an artificial material which mimics biological skin by simultaneously displaying color change on damage as well as self healing of the damaged region ...

Network Localization of Fatigue in Multiple Sclerosis
ABSTRACT Background Fatigue is among the most common symptoms and one of the main factors determining the quality of life in multiple sclerosis (MS). However, the neurobiological mechanisms underlying fatigue are not fully understood. Here we studied lesion locations and their connections in individuals with MS, aiming to identify brain networks ...

Post‐COVID Fatigue Is Associated With Reduced Cortical Thickness After Hospitalization
ABSTRACT Objective Neuropsychiatric symptoms are among the most prevalent sequelae of COVID‐19, particularly among hospitalized patients. Recent research has identified volumetric brain changes associated with COVID‐19. However, it currently remains poorly understood how brain changes relate to post‐COVID fatigue and cognitive deficits.
