Surface and interface study of pulsed-laser-deposited off-stoichiometric NiMnSb thin films on Si(100) substrate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We report a detailed study of surface and interface properties of pulsed-laser deposited NiMnSb films on Si (100) substrate as a function of film thickness.

Advancing Electronic Application of Coordination Solids: Enhancing Electron Transport and Device Integration via Surface‐Mounted MOFs (SURMOFs)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of coordination solids, enabled by the surface‐mounted metal‐organic framework (SURMOF) platform, is on the cusp of generating the organic counterpart of the epitaxy of inorganics. The programmable and sequential SURMOF protocol, optimized by machine learning (ML), is suited for accessing high‐quality thin films of ...

Ordering intermetallic alloys by ion irradiation: a way to tailor magnetic media

open access: yes, 2002
Combining He ion irradiation and thermal mobility below 600K, we both trigger and control the transformation from chemical disorder to order in thin films of an intermetallic ferromagnet (FePd).

Permalloy thin-film magnetic sensors [PDF]

open access: yesSensors and Actuators A: Physical, 1992
An introduction to the theory of the anisotropic magnetoresistance effect in ferromagnetic thin films is given, ending in a treatment of the minimalization of the free energy which is the result of the intrinsic and extrinsic anisotropies of the thin-film structure. The anisotropic magnetoresistance effect in long strips is reviewed. Attention is given

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Effect of Zr Doping on Structure and Ferroelectric Properties of Nanostructured Barium Titanate

open access: yesNano Select
Using soft chemistry methods, solid solutions of BaTi1‐xZrxO3 with 0 ≤ x ≤ 1 were obtained. The phase nature and features of the perovskite crystalline structure were established by x‐ray analysis and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.

Influence of Neodymium Doping on the Thermomagnetic Response and Colloidal Behavior of Copper Ferrite Nanoparticles

open access: yesФізика і хімія твердого тіла
In this work, CuNdxFe2-xO4 (x = 0.00 - 0.11) nanoparticles were synthesized via a sol-gel autocombustion method and systematically investigated to evaluate the impact of neodymium substitution on their structural, magnetic, and heating performance for ...

Structural and magneto-transport characterization of Co_2Cr_xFe_(1-x)Al Heusler alloy films

open access: yes, 2006
We investigate the structure and magneto-transport properties of thin films of the Co_2Cr_xFe_(1-x)Al full-Heusler compound, which is predicted to be a half-metal by first-principles theoretical calculations.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Magnetoresistance of Granular Ferromagnets - Observation of a Magnetic Proximity Effect?

open access: yes, 1998
We have observed a superparamagnetic to ferromagnetic transition in films of isolated Ni grains covered by non-magnetic overlayers. The magnetoresistance (MR) of the films was measured as a function of the overlayer thickness.
