A new magnetic flux meter

THE MEASUREMENT of magnetic fields in air gaps by the existing methods, is almost as cumbersome as light measurements were before the introduction of the photronic cell or photoelectric tube into that field. This paper describes a meter for the measurement of magnetic flux which seems to parallel the advance made in the lighting field.

It is customary when discussing magnetic leakage in the transformer to consider the primary and secondary windings as having a counter e. m. f. induced by a flux surrounding the coil and having the core for a part of its path. This leakage flux is frequently represented by closed lines.

Easy calculation of magnetic flux

Summary: In this paper, we give a very simple geometrical method to facilitate the calculation of the magnetic flux in some common cases where the magnetic flux density \(B\) produced by an infinitely long, straight wire carrying a steady current \( I_0\) is considered. The method is also valid for vector fields with the same symmetry.

A Flux Voltmeter for Magnetic Tests

A voltmeter is described for a-c. circuits the voltage indications of which are directly proportional to the maximum flux density, regardless of the wave shape of the voltage. While the instrument is suitable for many varieties of magnetic tests, its most important application is to the reduction of transformer coreloss measurements to sine-wave basis.

Simultaneous measurements of the magnetic fields in the photosphere and chromosphere were used to investigate if magnetic flux is submerging at sites between adjacent opposite polarity magnetic network elements in which the flux is observed to decrease or ‘cancel’.

Magnetic flux pinning and flux jumps in polycrystalline MgB2

Abstract MgB 2 polycrystalline samples were fabricated under varying conditions of isostatic pressing in argon gas. The critical current densities ( J C ) were determined through measurements of hysteresis loops, and the highest value of J C at 10 K was 1.9 × 10 4  A/cm 2 at 4.8 T.

Controlling the Motion of Magnetic Flux Quanta

We study the transport of vortices in superconductors with triangular arrays of boomerang- or V-shaped asymmetric pinning wells, when applying an alternating electrical current. The asymmetry of the pinning landscape induces a very efficient "diode" effect, that allows the sculpting at will of the magnetic field profile inside the sample.
