Effect of Magnetic Film Thickness on the Spatial Resolution of Magnetic Force Microscope Tips

open access: yes, 2011
Magnetic force microscope (MFM) tips were prepared by coating commercial atomic force microscope (AFM) tips of 5 nm radius with Co and CoCrPt magnetic thin films varying the thickness in a range of 10–80 nm.

Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.

Magnetic force microscope tip-induced remagnetization of CoPt nanodisks with perpendicular anisotropy

open access: yes, 2009
We report on the results of a magnetic force microscopy investigation of remagnetization processes in arrays of CoPt nanodisks with diameters of 35 and 200 nm and a thickness of 9.8 nm fabricated by e-beam lithography and ion etching.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Tunable skyrmion–edge interaction in magnetic multilayers by interlayer exchange coupling

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
Magnetic skyrmions are appealing for applications in emerging topological spintronic devices. However, when magnetic skyrmions in a nanowire are driven by an in-plane current, a transverse Magnus force deflects their trajectories from the current ...

Photoactivation of NV Centers in Diamond via Continuous Wave Laser Illumination of Shallow As‐Implanted Nitrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an alternative method of creating charge‐stable negatively charged nitrogen vacancy (NV−) centers close to the diamond surface without high‐temperature annealing. By illuminating nitrogen‐implanted regions with a continuous‐wave 405 nm laser, NV− centers are induced, exhibiting electron spin coherence properties suitable for ...

Confirmation of spatial coexistence of magneto-electric coupling in Bi0.7Dy0.3FeO3 thin films integrated with Si/ZnO film for MEMS and memory applications

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2019
Spatial presence of ferroelectric and magnetic domain structure of the multiferroic dysprosium (Dy)-modified BiFeO3 (Bi0.7Dy0.3FeO3 or BDFO) deposited on ZnO at the macroscopic level is investigated in this paper.

Measurement of the stray field emanating from magnetic force microscope tips by Hall effect microsensors

open access: yes, 1997
We describe the use of micronic Hall sensors as magnetic-field profilometers with submicron resolution. The procedure involves the deconvolution of Hall voltage maps produced by scanning the field source over the sensor, with a scanning probe microscope.

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.
