Accelerated Progression of Gait Impairment in Parkinson's Disease and REM Sleep Without Atonia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective People with Parkinson's disease (PD) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep without atonia (RSWA) often have more severe gait disturbances compared to PD without RSWA. The association between the presence and expression of RSWA and the rate of progression of gait impairment in PD is unknown.

Infernal instabilities in negative-triangularity plasmas with negative central shear

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
A systematic numerical investigation is carried out to understand magnetohydrodynamic stability of the ideal infernal-kink instability in tokamak plasmas with both negative triangularity (neg-D) shaping and negative central shear for the equilibrium ...

CSF Levels of NPTX2 Are Associated With Less Brain Atrophy Over Time in Cognitively Unimpaired Individuals

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuronal pentraxin 2 (NPTX2) is a synaptic protein involved in synaptic plasticity and regulation of neuronal excitability. Lower baseline cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) NPTX2 levels have been shown to be associated with an earlier onset of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a pre‐dementia syndrome, even after CSF Alzheimer's Disease (AD)

Impact of APOE ε4 Genotype Load on Cognitive Function and Lipid Metabolism in Patients With Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Apolipoprotein ε4 (APOE ε4) is a potent genetic risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its role in cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) remains unclear. Given the clinical and pathological similarities between CSVD and AD, this study aimed to investigate the associations of APOE ε4 gene dosage with cognitive function and

Bifurcation from L-mode to internal transport barrier triggered by a magnetic island in tokamak plasmas

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Magnetic islands are believed to be responsible for triggering the internal transport barrier (ITB) around the rational surface and hence improves confinement in magnetic confinement fusion plasma, for more than two decades.

Fibrinogen Changes Before and After Intravenous Thrombolysis as Predictors of Cerebral Injury and Clinical Outcomes in Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Multicenter Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma fibrinogen is essential in thrombosis and fibrinolysis, yet its dynamic changes pre‐ and post‐intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) for predicting brain injury severity and prognosis in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients remain unclear.

Contribution to turbulence suppression of the radial wavenumber spectral shift induced by negative bias in the J-TEXT tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The effects of negative bias on the turbulence and particle transport in edge plasma of J-TEXT tokamak are addressed in this work. An obvious decline in the turbulent particle transport is observed when the bias voltage reaches −200 V.

Magnetic fusion reactor economics [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of 16th International Symposium on Fusion Engineering, 2002
An almost primordial trend in the conversion and use of energy is an increased complexity and cost of conversion systems designed to utilize cheaper and more-abundant fuels; this trend is exemplified by the progression fossil/spl rarr/fission/spl rarr/fusion.

Fluid and Neuroimaging Biomarkers in Microgliopathy Colony‐Stimulating Factor‐1 Receptor‐Related Disorders

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aims to identify both fluid and neuroimaging biomarkers for CSF1R‐RD that can inform the optimal timing of treatment administration to maximize therapeutic benefit, while also providing sensitive quantitative measurements to monitor disease progression.

SOLPS-ITER modeling of neon-seeded EAST plasmas under connected double-null configurations and its impact on tungsten impurity behaviors

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The SOLPS-ITER edge modeling package was employed to numerically investigate neon (Ne)-seeded EAST plasmas under connected-double-null configurations, focusing on Ne impurity transport and its impacts on tungsten (W) impurity behaviors.
