Significant phase deviation of magnetic quantum oscillations induced by magnetic impurities

open access: yesNPG Asia Materials
Magnetic quantum oscillations, such as Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations or de Haas-van Alphen oscillations, are widely used tools for fermiology. Notably, the phase of magnetic quantum oscillations could inform about the symmetry or topology of materials ...

The Use of GPR in Delineating an Iron Sand Boundary and the Determination of Its Electromagnetic Wave Velocity: A Case Study in Jepara, Central Java [PDF]

open access: yesITB Journal of Engineering Science, 2005
Exploring the vertical extent of iron sand deposit is challenging as conventional geophysical methods (electrical resistivity, geomagnetic, and seismic refraction) are inappropriate and unsuccessful in delineating the iron sand deposit from the bedrock ...

A Paleomagnetic Inspection of the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) in the Southern Pyrenees

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2018
Magnetic properties of rocks can be useful for determining paleoenvironmental changes. A dramatic climate change that occurred in the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) modified the environment and, hence, the magnetic properties recorded in the ...

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Magnetic mineralogical analysis of soils as a part of the integrated geological and geophysical model for the hydrocarbon prospecting

open access: yesВісник Київського національного університету імені Тараса Шевченка. Серія Геологія, 2022
Magnetic minerals form or alter in the presence of hydrocarbons, making them a potential magnetic proxy for identifying hydrocarbon migration pathways. We concentrate in the precision magnetic mineralogical analyzes to understand what magnetic minerals ...
