Optics with an Atom Laser Beam
We report on the atom optical manipulation of an atom laser beam. Reflection, focusing and its storage in a resonator are demonstrated. Precise and versatile mechanical control over an atom laser beam propagating in an inhomogeneous magnetic field is ...

Reflection of OH molecules from magnetic mirrors
We have reflected a Stark-decelerated beam of OH molecules under normal incidence from mirrors consisting of permanent magnets. Two different types of magnetic mirrors have been demonstrated. A long-range flat mirror made from a large disc magnet has been used to spatially focus the reflected beam in the longitudinal direction ("bunching").

SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETS FOR MIRROR MACHINES [PDF]
The simple mirror configuration, consisting of a long solenoid with increased field strength at the ends (magnetic mirrors), proved to be an unstable plasma container and was replaced by the minimum absolute value of B mirror configuration. The Yin-Yang minimum absolute value of B coil was chosen for the Mirror Fusion Test Facility (MFTF) experiment ...

Full-wave simulation of ion cyclotron range of frequency heating in a mirror device [PDF]
We are adapting the all-orders spectral algorithm (AORSA) [Jaeger Phys. Plasmas 8 (2001)] from tokamak geometry to axisymmetric magnetic mirror geometry.

Mirror mode structures and ELF plasma waves in the Giacobini-Zinner magnetosheath [PDF]
We show evidence for mirror mode structures at comet Giacobini-Zinner. These are plasma structures with alternating high ß and low ß regions driven unstable when ß /ß > 1+ 1/.

Axion mediated photon to dark photon mixing
The interaction between the dark/mirror sector and the ordinary sector is considered, where the two sectors interact with each other by sharing the same QCD axion field.

Secondary Whistler and Ion-cyclotron Instabilities Driven by Mirror Modes in Galaxy Clusters
Electron cyclotron waves (whistlers) are commonly observed in plasmas near Earth and the solar wind. In the presence of nonlinear mirror modes, bursts of whistlers, usually called lion roars, have been observed within low magnetic field regions ...

Parity-time symmetry from stacking purely dielectric and magnetic slabs
We show that Parity-time symmetry in matching electric permittivity to magnetic permeability can be established by considering an effective Parity operator involving both mirror symmetry and coupling between electric and magnetic fields.
