Transportation of Low-voltage Sheet Helical Electron Beam for Confocal Gyrotron with Pulsed Magnetic System [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2015
Gyrotrons with opened cavities which consist of two confocal cylindrical mirrors are promising sources of electromagnetic radiation in submillimeter range because of a sufficient level of output power, frequency stability and the possibility of tuning ...

Characterization and implications of the dynamics of eosinophils in blood and in the infarcted myocardium after coronary reperfusion. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
OBJECTIVE:We characterized the dynamics of eosinophils in blood and in the infarcted myocardium in patients and in a swine model of reperfused myocardial infarction (MI). The association of eosinophil dynamics with various outcomes was assessed.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Lithium atom interferometer using laser diffraction : description and experiments

open access: yes, 2004
We have built and operated an atom interferometer of the Mach-Zehnder type. The atomic wave is a supersonic beam of lithium seeded in argon and the mirrors and beam-splitters for the atomic wave are based on elastic Bragg diffraction on laser standing ...

Pentagonal 2D Altermagnets: Material Screening and Altermagnetic Tunneling Junction Device Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a database of 170 pentagonal 2D materials, 4 candidates exhibiting altermagnetic ordering are screened. Furthermore, the spin‐splitting and unconventional boundary states in the pentagonal 2D altermagnetic monolayer MnS2 are investigated. A MnS2‐based altermagnetic tunneling junction is designed and, through ab initio quantum transport simulations,

Detection of Vacuum Birefringence with Intense Laser Pulses

open access: yes, 2004
We propose a novel technique that promises hope of being the first to directly detect a polarization in the quantum electrodynamic (QED) vacuum. The technique is based upon the use of ultra-short pulses of light circulating in low dispersion optical ...

Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Magnetic Mirror Stars in Five Dimensions#

open access: yesGravitation and Cosmology
We discuss a class of solutions of multidimensional gravity which are formally related to black-hole solutions but can observationally look like compact stars whose surface reflects back all particles or signals getting there. Some particular examples of such solutions are presented and studied, including those with a magnetic field in Maxwell or ...

Electrons in Magnetic Mirror Geometry

open access: yes, 2013
Landau's theory of electron motion in stationary magnetic fields is extended to the inclusion of bouncing along the field between mirror points in an inhomogeneous field. The problem can be treated perturbation theoretically. As expected, bouncing is quantized, causes a weak shift in Landau levels, reduces parallel degeneracy, but does not contribute ...

Positive‐Tone Nanolithography of Antimony Trisulfide with Femtosecond Laser Wet‐Etching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A butyldithiocarbamic acid (BDCA) etchant is used to fabricate various micro‐ and nanoscale structures on amorphous antimony trisulfide (a‐Sb2S3) thin film via femtosecond laser etching. Numerical analysis and experimental results elucidate the patterning mechanism on gold (reflective) and quartz (transmissive) substrates.
