Magnetic and Electric Excitations in Split Ring Resonators

open access: yes, 2007
We studied the electric and magnetic resonance of U-shaped SRRs. We showed that higher order excitation modes exist in both of the electric and magnetic resonances. The nodes in the current distribution were found for all the resonance modes.

Quantum Tunneling of the Magnetic Moment in a Free Particle

open access: yes, 2011
We study tunneling of the magnetic moment in a particle that has full rotational freedom. Exact energy levels are obtained and the ground-state magnetic moment is computed for a symmetric rotor.

Transmission electron microscopy/electron energy loss spectroscopy measurements and ab initio calculation of local magnetic moments at nickel grain boundaries

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2014
We have determined local magnetic moments at nickel grain boundaries using a transmission electron microscopy/electron energy loss spectroscopy method assuming that the magnetic moment of Ni atoms is a linear function of the L3/L2 (white-line ratio) in ...

Superparamagnetic relaxation in Cu_{x}Fe_{3-x}O_{4} (x=0.5 and x=1) nanoparticles

open access: yes, 2004
The scope of this article is to report very detailed results of the measurements of magnetic relaxation phenomena in the new Cu$_{0.5}$Fe$_{2.5}$O$_{4}$ nanoparticles and known CuFe$_{2}$O$_{4}$ nanoparticles.

Optimal control laws of onboard coils for the reduction of angular momentum and damping of angular velocity of nanosatellites and microsatellites with magnetic coils on board

open access: yesВестник Самарского университета: Аэрокосмическая техника, технологии и машиностроение, 2016
Obtaining a new optimal law of controlling onboard magnetic coils that would provide reduction of the angular momentum of nanosatellites and microsatellites to a predetermined small value and subsequently maintaining it is discussed in the paper.

Anomaly-induced Quadrupole Moment of the Neutron in Magnetic Field

open access: yes, 2011
The neutrons cannot possess a quadrupole moment in the vacuum. Nevertheless, we show that in the presence of an external magnetic field the neutrons acquire a new type of quadrupole moment $Q^{ij}= \chi\,\sigma^i B^j$ involving the components of spin and

Target magnetic moment orientation estimation method based on full magnetic gradient orthonormal basis function

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
Magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) is an effective method to detect the existence and localization of magnetic targets. Magnetic signal processing technology can extract target signals from complex background noise.

Electronic Transport Spectroscopy of Carbon Nanotubes in a Magnetic Field

open access: yes, 2004
We report magnetic field spectroscopy measurements in carbon nanotube quantum dots exhibiting four-fold shell structure in the energy level spectrum. The magnetic field induces a large splitting between the two orbital states of each shell, demonstrating

Induced magnetism of carbon atoms at the graphene/Ni(111) interface

open access: yes, 2010
We report an element-specific investigation of electronic and magnetic properties of the graphene/Ni(111) system. Using magnetic circular dichroism, the occurrence of an induced magnetic moment of the carbon atoms in the graphene layer aligned parallel ...
