Magnetic Reconnection Phenomena In Interplanetary Space

Space Science Reviews, 2003
Interplanetary magnetic reconnection(IMR) phenomena are explored based on the observational data with various time resolutions from Helios, IMP-8, ISEE3, Wind, etc. We discover that the observational evidence of the magnetic reconnection may be found in the various solar wind structures, such as at the boundary of magnetic cloud, near the current sheet,

Magnetic Shape Memory Phenomena

2009
Giant magnetically induced strain up to 50 times larger compared to the strain of giant magnetostriction was observed in some Heusler alloys, particularly in Ni–Mn–Ga. In analogy with the shape memory phenomenon this effect was called magnetic shape memory effect.

Cavitation phenomena in magnetic liquids

Journal of Engineering Physics and Thermophysics, 1996
Investigations of acoustic cavitation in magnetic liquids subjected to the action of inhomogeneous magnetic fields were carried out for the first time. Possible mechanisms of the effect of the fields on the dynamics of single bubbles, cavitation threshold, and cavitation-induced erosion are considered.

Acoustic phenomena in magnetic colloids

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1990
Abstract This paper discusses the results of conversion of acoustic and magnetic fields in magnetic colloids, which include the results of electromagnetic field disturbance effect investigation at sound wave propagation in the magnetized liquid, and the application of this effect for measuring the sound velocity, and also the experimental data on ...

Magnetic Relaxation Phenomena

2010
Studies of magnetic relaxation phenomena are important for understanding the properties of magnetic materials, and Mossbauer spectroscopy has contributed much to the elucidation of the magnetic dynamics in solids. In experimental studies of relaxation phenomena, the time scale of the experimental technique is a crucial parameter, because it determines ...

Magnetic ordering phenomena in DyPd3S4

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2004
Abstract Elastic and inelastic neutron scattering has been employed to study the quadrupolar and dipolar ordering phenomena in DyPd 3 S 4 . At T Q =3.4 K the Dy quadrupole moments undergo a phase transition to an ordered lattice, reflected by a distinct change of the crystal-field level scheme observed by neutron spectroscopy.

Magnetic phenomena, spin-orbit effects, and Landauer conductance in Pt nanowire contacts

, 2008
Platinum monatomic nanowires were predicted to spontaneously develop magnetism, involving a sizable orbital moment via spin orbit coupling, and a colossal magnetic anisotropy.

Critical phenomena in dipolar magnets

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1986
Abstract Effects of the dipolar anisotropic fluctuations on the order parameter, appearing close Tc in all ferromagnets, are discussed in light of recent experimental results on simple Ising and Heisenberg ferromagnets. Particular attention is paid to open questions regarding the relaxation of EuO and Fe at Tc, the presence of a finite mode at Tc of ...
