Magnetic saturable-core timing device

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Part I: Communication and Electronics, 1958
Accurate timing devices are fundamentally important in both industial and military control applications. This paper deals with electric timing apparatus in which the timing sense is derived from the volt-second time integral required to saturate a saturable magnetic core. Discrete time periods may be generated on the basis of this principle.

Pole piece saturation in magnetic electron lenses

Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1968
A new method is described for determining the flux density distribution in magnetic electron lenses of finite permeability. The method involves a simple modification to the resistance network analogue of the magnetic circuit. Pole piece flux densities have been determined under normal and saturation conditions in a high power objective lens.

Approach to Saturation in Inhomogeneous Magnetic Materials

Journal of Applied Physics, 1971
The Néel theory of the approach to saturation in inhomogeneous magnetic materials is critically reviewed. It is found that the theory is rigorously applicable when the local saturation magnetization differs only slightly from its spatial average, but that this condition is not satisfied in porous materials or in material containing inclusions of a ...

Coupled Magnetomechanical Equations for Magnetically Saturated Insulators

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1964
The differential equations and boundary conditions governing the macroscopic behavior of nonconducting magnetically saturated media undergoing large deformations, are derived by means of a systematic and consistent application of the laws of continuum physics to a model consisting of an electronic spin continuum coupled to a lattice continuum.

The interpolar fields of saturated magnetic circuits

Journal of the A.I.E.E., 1927
In this note, the question of the effect of assuming infinite permeability in the iron on the accuracy of calculations of the interpolar fields in electric machines is studied. One can do this very easily by replacing the saturated by non-saturated poles, covered by an infinitely thin sheet of current giving the same tangential component of the field ...
