Short range magnetic correlations in van der Waals 2D materials analyzed using neutron scattering [PDF]
Two-dimensional layered materials, where magnetic layers are linked through van der Waals (vdW) bonding provides a promising platform for spintronics applications and quantum behavior.

The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Application of relativistic scattering theory of x rays to diffraction anomalous fine structure in Cu [PDF]
We apply our recent first-principles formalism of magnetic scattering of circularly polarized x rays to a single Cu crystal. We demonstrate the ability of our formalism to interpret the crystalline environment related near-edge fine structure features in

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Small angle neutron scattering studies of magnetic recording media
In the beginning of the twenty-first century, educational and commercial institutions have driven the demand for cheap and efficient data storage. The storage medium known as magnetic recording media has remained the mainstay for most computer systems ...

High-resolution x-ray scattering studies of charge ordering in highly correlated electron systems [PDF]
Many important properties of transition metal oxides such as, copper oxide high- temperature superconductivity and colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) in manganites are due to strong electron-electron interactions, and hence these systems are called highly ...

2D Spin-Dependent Diffraction of Electrons From Periodical Chains of Nanomagnets
The scattering of the unpolarized beams of electrons by nanomagnets in the vicinity of some scattering angles leads to complete spin polarized electrons. This result is obtained with the help of the perturbation theory.

HQ collisional energy loss in a magnetized medium
We study the effect of the magnetic field on the collisional energy loss of heavy quark (HQ) moving in a magnetized thermal partonic medium. This is investigated in the strong field approximation where the lowest Landau level (LLL) becomes relevant.

Scattering in a magnetic field [PDF]
A scheme of ionization cooling proposed at Fermilab involves energy loss by passing a muon beam through liquid hydrogen. Focussing is done by solenoids. A particle travelling in a straight line, will, after being scattered, follow a helical trajectory.
