Inertial and magnetic sensors

2022

Diamond magnetic sensors

2014
In this chapter, we describe the use of individual nitrogen–vacancy (NV) centers in diamond as nanoscale sensors for magnetic- fi eld detection and imaging. We start by reviewing the original proposals and fi rst proof- of-concept experiments for NV magnetometry and then discuss recent applications of this emerging technology.

Magnetic Gradient Sensor

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience Electronics, 1965
In magnetic surveys it is often more useful to deal with the magnetic field gradients than with the field itself. This paper describes a device which measures magnetic field gradients directly and which is not influenced by uniform magnetic fields. Even if asymmetries exist in the device, the constant part of the magnetic field will appear as a signal ...

A magnetic field sensor and method of manufacturing a magnetic field sensor

1997
A method of manufacturing a magnetic field sensor having a stacked structure which comprises: a substrate (1); an exchange-biasing layer (2) comprising nickel oxide; a magnetic layer (3) which is exchange-biased with the exchange-biasing layer (2), whereby at least the exchange-biasing layer (2) is provided by sputter deposition using a sputter gas ...
