A lightweight magnetically shielded room with active shielding [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
AbstractMagnetically shielded rooms (MSRs) use multiple layers of materials such as MuMetal to screen external magnetic fields that would otherwise interfere with high precision magnetic field measurements such as magnetoencephalography (MEG). Optically pumped magnetometers (OPMs) have enabled the development of wearable MEG systems which have the ...

Spatial Contributions to Nuclear Magnetic Shieldings [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2021
We develop a methodology for calculating, analyzing, and visualizing nuclear magnetic shielding densities which are calculated from the current density via the Biot–Savart relation. Atomic contributions to nuclear magnetic shielding constants can be estimated within our framework with a Becke partitioning scheme.

Optimizing magnetically shielded solenoids

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2020
An important consideration when designing a magnetostatic cavity for various applications is to maximize the ratio of the volume of field homogeneity to the overall size of the cavity. We report a design of a magnetically shielded solenoid that significantly improves the transverse field gradient averaged over a volume of 1000 cm3 by placing ...
