Analog studies of magnetic shields.
AIAA Journal, 1966Externally deflecting magnets provide a protective region around space vehicles which shields them from the hazardous space radiation. The magnetic shield simulator (MAGSIM) is an analog device that provides a simple means for directly measuring the forbidden volume or protective region produced by externally deflecting magnets.

Magnetic properties of Cryophy were measured at room and cryogenic temperatures using ring samples. Sample-to-sample variation in permeability was evaluated in addition to measurement error. Permeability dependence on the maximum annealing temperature was examined using ring samples annealed at 1100 °C and 1170 °C.

Concrete for magnetic shielding
Cement and Concrete Research, 1995The use of steel paper clips in the amount of 5 vol.% in concrete was found to result in concrete with magnetic shielding (60 Hz) ability comparable to steel mesh. Furthermore, the paper clips did not affect the compressive strength of the concrete. The paper clips were discontinuous enough for mixing with the concrete mix, while their intertwining ...

Investigation of 2-layer Shield for Magnetic Shielding Considering Magnetic Hysteresis
The 2006 4th Asia-Pacific Conference on Environmental Electromagnetics, 2006This paper presents the study of 2-layer shielding against power frequency magnetic field in order to increase the shielding effectiveness of the shield. The work has been investigated by finite element method (FEM) considering the hysteresis effect of magnetic materials.

Conventional magnetic shielding
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1987A general review of conventional magnetic shielding is presented. Several possible definitions of the term 'shielding factor' are given, taking into account the ferromagnetic nature of shielding materials. An alternative treatment of single-layer axial shielding for a cylindrical shield is presented and compared to a previous approximation.

Magnetic shielding of nuclei in molecules
Physica, 1950Abstract An expression is developed for the magnetic field at a nucleus of a poly-atomic molecule with zero resultant orbital and spin angular momenta in an external magnetic field. The field at the nucleus is not the same as the externally applied field because of the field arising from the motion of the electrons in the molecule. The expression for

Magnetic Shielding by Superconducting Films
Journal of Applied Physics, 1962The magnetic field distribution and supercurrent density are calculated exactly by means of the Maxwell-London equations for the case of an ideal superconducting spherical shell immersed in a steady uniform magnetic field. It is shown that the magnetic field is strongly attenuated by the spherical shell even if the shell thickness is as small as 1000 A.

Magnetic Shielding (Shielding of Magnetic Instruments From Steady Stray Fields)
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1929This paper is a brief survey of the vast amount of work on magnetic shielding of instruments against steady stray fields, and allied problems, by several authors during the last fifty years. It contains, first, a simplified presentation of the method of zonal harmonic analysis, by way of introduction to the mathematical theory of shielding as presented

Magnetic shielding for MRI superconducting magnets
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1991An optical design is presented of a highly homogeneous superconducting coil system with magnetic shielding for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The optimal design method is a combination of the hybrid finite-element and boundary-element method for analysis of an axially symmetric nonlinear open-boundary magnetic field problem and a mathematical ...
