In utero ventriculosubgaleal shunt placement in a fetal lamb model: Phase 1 technical insights

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 4, July 2026.
Abstract Background Progressive ventriculomegaly and the resulting irreversible brain damage may be mitigated through timely diversion prenatal intervention. While ventriculosubgaleal shunt (VSGS) is commonly performed postnatally in premature infants, in utero placement is unexplored.

Insights on Lightning‐Induced Remanent Magnetization From High‐Current Impulse Experiments

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Lightning strikes generate intense transient magnetic fields capable of inducing strong and complex remanent magnetizations in rocks, potentially overprinting their original paleomagnetic record. To investigate the mechanisms and outcomes of lightning‐induced remanent magnetization, we conducted controlled high‐current impulse experiments on ...

Sex Differences in Scalp‐to‐Cortex Distance: Implications for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Efficacy in Alcohol Use Disorder

open access: yesAlcohol, Clinical and Experimental Research, Volume 50, Issue 7, July 2026.
In individuals with alcohol use disorder, scalp‐to‐cortex distance varied by sex, alcohol use severity, and TMS target, while modeled electric field magnitude varied by target and age. These findings support individualized, anatomy‐informed TMS dosing strategies.

Patent Ductus Arteriosus Persistence and Neurodevelopmental Outcomes: A Restrictive Treatment Approach Does Not Compromise Neurological Development

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 115, Issue 7, Page 1461-1466, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Optimal treatment strategies for patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and their impact on neurodevelopmental outcomes remain controversial. This study investigates the influence of PDA duration on neurodevelopment under a restrictive treatment approach.

Recent Trends in Metabolomics by NMR Spectroscopy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 24, 8 June 2026.
AI tools were applied to analyze more than 5 000 publications indexed in Scopus (2018–2025), identifying key trends and research directions in NMR‐based metabolomics. The artificial intelligence‐assisted workflow classified papers into six main fields of application, human health, food and nutrition, veterinary science, plants, environment, and ...

Optic nerve sheath meningioma exhibits neural niche‐associated transcriptomic features and rare copy number variation‐linked evolution

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 4, July 2026.
Optic nerve sheath meningiomas are typically NF2‐intact with few copy number alterations and are generally clinically indolent. Rare aggressive recurrences are associated with progressive accumulation of copy number variations, including CDKN2A/B homozygous deletion, 1q gain, and 14q loss.
