A precision active shunt has been developed for fine tuning of individual magnet fields in a series magnet string operated from a single power supply. The shunt uses power transistors operated in linear mode to regulate the bypass current in the range 0 to 50 A with precision of ±10 mA. Communication with and control of shunt which may be floating 1000

Diode-shunting in magnetic amplifiers
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Part I: Communication and Electronics, 1956IN THE self-saturating type of magnetic amplifier it is desirable to bias the saturable reactor to a particular point on its hysteresis loop. Higher gain and better linearity of the transfer function can be achieved in this manner. Shunt paths around the diodes of the magnetic amplifier afford a convenient means of biasing the saturable reactors.

Self-magnetic drive of a shunting arc
Surface and Coatings Technology, 2004A magnetically driven shunting arc as a pulsed metal/solid plasma source has been newly developed. This article describes fundamental electrical and plasma dynamic characteristics of the magnetically driven arc. The shunting arc plasma has a feature of self-ignition without using any triggering mechanism method at a wide gas pressure range from vacuum ...

Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Arterioportal Shunts in the Liver
Topics in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2002Localized perfusional variations are being seen more frequently in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the increased reliance of the optimized arterial-phase contrast-enhanced strategies has become more commonplace. Many of these findings are related to the various organic or functional arterioportal shunts in the liver.
