A Sliding Mode SVPWM Method for a HTS Shunt Active Power Filter

IEEE transactions on applied superconductivity, 2021
A sliding mode controller based on SVPWM strategy (SMC-SVPWM) is proposed for three-phase voltage-source-converter-based shunt active power filter. Superconducting magnetic energy storage is used to improve the filtering performance.

Evaluation of intracardiac shunts with cardiac magnetic resonance

Current Cardiology Reports, 2005
Intracardiac shunts including atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, endocardial cushion defects, and surgical baffles may be identified, localized, and quantified using cardiac MRI methods. Both dark-blood and bright-blood techniques are helpful to identify anatomy.

Magnetoresistive read transducer having hard magnetic shunt bias

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1992
A magnetoresistive (MR) read transducer comprising an MR layer (11) having passive end regions (14) separated by a central active region (12). A longitudinal bias is produced by a thin film (16) of hard magnetic material in the end regions only, and the thin film of hard magnetic material is spaced from the MR layer by a nonmagnetic spacer layer (18 ...

Magnetic dynamic hysteresis of a resistively shunted Josephson-junction array

Physical Review B, 1994
The magnetization curves of a slablike uniform Josephson-junction array with resistive shunts are calculated from the dc and ac Josephson equations and the gauge-invariant phase difference. The parameters are chosen in accord with actual values for high-Tc superconductors (HTSC's).

Magnetic Resonance–Based Estimation of Intracranial Pressure Correlates With Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Valve Opening Pressure Setting in Children With Hydrocephalus

Investigative Radiology, 2013
ObjectivesThe aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the pressure setting of the ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt valve and a magnetic resonance (MR)–based estimate of intracranial pressure (ICP) in children with shunt-treated ...

Magnetic resonance imaging of macroscopic intrahepatic portal-hepatic venous shunts

Gastrointestinal Radiology, 1991
Direct communication between portal branches and the hepatic vein [macroscopic intra-hepatic portal-hepatic venous shunt (IPHVS)] is a rare entity. We have recently studied five patients with this condition. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) clearly demonstrated in each case the portal-hepatic venous shunt due to "flow void." Multiple diffuse shunts ...

Congenital intrahepatic portosystemic venous shunt: sonographic and magnetic resonance imaging

European Radiology, 1996
We report an intrahepatic portosystemic venous shunt (IPVS) detected by ultrasound in an asymptomatic newborn. The lesion, which was further documented using color Doppler ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), had almost totally disappeared 6 months later without any treatment. Intrahepatic portosystemic venous shunts (IPVS) are uncommon and

Effect of Vagus Nerve Stimulator Magnet on Programmable Shunt Settings

Neurosurgery, 2004
Vagus nerve stimulators and programmable shunt valves are used in the operative care of epilepsy and hydrocephalus, respectively. Both devices use magnetic fields to activate and program their various settings and functions. The authors conducted several ex vivo trials to better elucidate any interplay between the two systems.A pulse generator ...

Is the Ex-PRESS Glaucoma Shunt Magnetic Resonance Imaging Safe?

Journal of Glaucoma, 2010
Ex-PRESS mini glaucoma shunt is a miniature, stainless steel, nonvalved device used for the treatment of glaucoma. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety of the Ex-PRESS glaucoma shunt during magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. The effect of a magnetic field on the Ex-PRESS glaucoma shunt was evaluated in 4 scenarios.
