Spinning Skyrmions and the Skyrme parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The traditional approach to fixing the parameters of the Skyrme model requires the energy of a spinning Skyrmion to reproduce the nucleon and delta masses.

Creation of domain-wall Skyrmions in chiral magnets

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
We study the capture of a magnetic Skyrmion into a domain wall (DW) structure in chiral magnets and find that in the respective ground states of the DW and the Skyrmion, they repel each other. This means that an isolated magnetic Skyrmion cannot a priori

Enhancement of skyrmion density via interface engineering

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2023
Magnetic skyrmions are promising candidates for computing and memory applications. The static and dynamic behaviors of skyrmions are tunable by altering the interfacial magnetic properties. These interfacial magnetic properties are alterable by modifying

Thermoelectric microscopy of magnetic skyrmions [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
AbstractThe magnetic skyrmion is a nanoscale topological object characterized by the winding of magnetic moments, appearing in magnetic materials with broken inversion symmetry. Because of its low current threshold for driving the skyrmion motion, they have been intensely studied toward novel storage applications by using electron-beam, X-ray, and ...

Skyrmion-skyrmion and skyrmion-edge repulsions in skyrmion-based racetrack memory

open access: yes, 2015
Magnetic skyrmions are promising for building next-generation magnetic memories and spintronic devices due to their stability, small size and the extremely low currents needed to move them. In particular, skyrmion-based racetrack memory is attractive for

Field-tuned spin excitation spectrum of kπ skyrmion

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
We study spin wave excitation modes of kπ skyrmion ( k  = 1, 2, 3) in a magnetic nanodot under an external magnetic field along the z direction using micromagnetic simulations based on the Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation. We find that a transition of kπ

Magnetic skyrmions in nanostructures of non-centrosymmetric materials

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2019
Magnetic skyrmions are a new form of magnetic ordering with whirlpool-like spin arrangements. These topologically protected particlelike spin textures were first discovered a decade ago in noncentrosymmetric magnetic materials.

Discrimination of skyrmion chirality via spin–orbit and –transfer torques for logic operation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Recently many works on magnetic memories and logic circuits, which use a magnetic skyrmion have been reported. Previously we micromagnetically simulated a method to switch a chirality of a magnetic skyrmion formed in a magnetic thin film by introducing a

Vector‐Field Control and Emergent Basal‐Plane Anisotropy of Magnetic Textures in Noncentrosymmetric (Fe0.63Ni0.3Pd0.07)3P

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A field‐driven transition from chiral stripes to an achiral fan state is observed in a tetragonal magnet and linked to a temperature‐dependent rotation of the effective Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction axis. This interplay generates pronounced in‐plane anisotropy and provides a new route for controlling chiral spin textures in noncentrosymmetric ...

Disorder‐Broadened Topological Hall Phase and Anomalous Hall Scaling in FeGe

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By systematically introducing defects into FeGe via ion‐beam modification, we demonstrate that disorder broadens the temperature regime over which the topological Hall effect ‐ a signature of skyrmions or other chiral textures — appears, while also increasing its magnitude.
